Last year, Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum announced the release of a world first in rum: the very rare Limited Edition Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve.
The Appleton Estate is the oldest sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica and is located in the country’s Nassau Valley. The first known documentation of rum production at the Appleton Estate dates back to 1749, and today, the Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum range is Jamaica’s leading premium rum which is exported to over 60 countries across the globe.
Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve comprises rums that have been aged for a minimum of 50 years in hand-selected oak barrels, and it is believed to be the oldest rum on sale in the world. Only 800 bottles of this very rare limited edition are available for purchase, and in Australia, it carries a recommended price tag of $5,500 (for 750ml).
The rums that make Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum were specially set down over half a century ago and very carefully managed over time to create this minimum aged 50 Year Old Rum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence.
