The ArtyA Farfalla Collection
We’ve followed the creations from ArtyA for years now probably as in their chief-designer, Yvan Arpa, they have one of the most charismatic leaders in the watch industry.
Back in 2012, Yvan unveiled the brand’s Son of Earth collection and one of the first designs in the line was the Farfalla collection. So, what makes this range worthy of being on this list and who does it tie-in with the natural world?
Unlike some watches who celebrated nature through design accents or reproduction, ArtyA and the artist, D. Arpa-Cirpka actually incorporated genuine butterfly wings in the dial under the watchful eyes of the relevant authorities.
The butterfly wings within the watches came from the Lepidoptera auriferous which produce an amazing variety of colours including blends of green and orange which are enhanced with gold leaf. The striking aspect of these watches is as the light changes, so do the colour tones on the dial.
Yvan Arpa on the Farfalla collection: “Our collections used to be very much focused on a man’s world; the Farfalla line brings a gentle breeze of something new, enabling us to engage a whole new gamut of sensibilities.”
The ArtyA Farfalla timepieces use a Swiss-made three-hand automatic calibre and is set upon a hand-stitched black leather strap. Each piece within the collection is a 1 of 1 meaning absolute exclusivity, and retails at around CHF 5’900
