A touch of central London extravagance makes its way to the leafy south west.
The award-winning M Restaurants has just opened its third foodie venture in the centre of Twickenham, South West London.
Open daily, the swanky bar and grill look set to be loved by SW Londoners and those headed to the rugby at Twickenham Stadium. Rugby star, Simon Shaw MBE hosted the launch back in September.
As a local and having dined at M Threadneedle St, I was eager to try the new gastro-style grill. Especially as there are only a handful of fine-dining restaurants in the south-west.
Those making their way to the rugby won’t have to walk far – M Twickenham is opposite the train station and a mere 10-minute walk from the stadium. It’s ideal for groups and families looking for quieter pre-match celebrations. It’s also great for Friday night cocktails, mid-week date nights, roasts and business meetings in the private booths.
The décor combines the exclusivity of the famous M Threadneedle and Victoria Street, with some added cosiness to compete with the much-loved pubs in the area. Materials are a mix of dark oak, blue leather and polished brass. Scandi-style light fixtures and a bright carpet add a contemporary touch.
On the menu, you’ll find your favourite pub dishes and childhood classics with a refined, modern twist. We began with the Wagyu Scotch Egg (£7.95) – a slow-cooked egg with a runny yolk encased inside tender Wagyu mince and fluffy breadcrumbs. The Heritage Beetroot (£9.95) is a good choice if you fancy something refreshing. Layers of multi-coloured beetroot are artistically layered with creamy goat’s curd hidden inside.
