Are you craving some good old fashion surf and turf? Head down to Maria’s Signature, the newest flagship restaurant from a steakhouse chain regarded by many as the best in Malaysia.
If you crave no-frills cuisine without all the bells and whistles, head down to Maria’s Signature Restaurant located at Suria KLCC. Having just opened its doors in December last year, Maria’s Signature Restaurant at Suria KLCC is today the flagship of this chain of restaurants which started as a humble and homely family eatery serving pies and pastries in the heart of Ipoh.
With four branches in Malaysia’s capital city plus the original restaurant in Ipoh, Maria’s Signature is a welcome addition to a burgeoning food trend that sees diners and gourmands going back to basics relishing the simple goodness of wholesome food in terms of presentation and taste.
Renowned for its succulent and juicy top-quality steaks, Maria’s Signature prides itself on serving top-quality steaks which are kept in controlled conditions to preserve their natural freshness and juices.
According to Angeline Tan, the CEO of Maria SteakCafe and daughter of the founders. The most popular steaks sold at Maria’s SteakCafe are the melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu Steaks which can be ordered as Rib Eye, Tenderloin, Tomahawk or the Wagyu Olympics champion; the Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Striploin.
But apart from Wagyu steaks, Maria’s Signature also offers tender Lamb Loins from New Zealand, poultry dishes such as Black Pepper Chicken or Chicken Parmigiana and seafood dishes such as their irresistible Lobster Thermidor, Pan-Fried Canadian Seabass or Fish and Chips using fresh Malaysian Garoupa.
There also appetite-satiating pasta dishes either with meat sauce or seafood. Don’t skip their appetisers, especially the Spicy Mussels, which utilises a tangy tomato sauce, served with garlic bread—not forgetting desserts, the Moist Chocolate Cake that comes with Premium Vanilla Ice-Cream or the Prune Cake, which is incredibly tasty.
With a clean and minimalist interior featuring dark oak, silver-grey marble and plush leather booths, Maria’s Signature restaurant also has an outdoor patio overlooking KLCC park with its spectacular dancing fountains.
It’s also the perfect venue to sip one of their speciality cocktails, created by mixologist Amanda Wan who utilises local ingredients such as peanut brittle and the popular Ipoh pomelo.
So how does Angeline describe the food at her flagship restaurant? “One thing we have noticed as a constant pattern in-out customers is what we call the five-second “Wow” window,” she explains.
“When you slice into one of our delicious steaks, take a sip of one of our mouth-watering cocktails or take a bite into one of our famous desserts, we notice it takes about five seconds before we see customers’ faces light up with a smile of satisfaction, delightful surprise or a nod of approval as to how good our food is.”
In the future, meat lovers can look forward to a new sizzling porterhouse steak dish served in a pool of drizzling brown butter and emanating the fragrance of melted tallow.
And talk about a full-circle moment, plans are also underway to reintroduce Maria’s pies and pastries during afternoon tea at their flagship outlet at Suria KLCC.
But who is Maria? “It’s my mother!” Angeline exclaims. “Both my mum and dad co-founded Maria’s Café back in 1999, and all our signature dishes – from our signature steak seasoning to the delectable Siciliana sauce used in our Spicy Mussels dish to our homemade Tiramisu were created by my parents.”
