Despite good intentions, 92% of Brits have said they will break their New Year diet within one month
Research shows 1.5 million men are set to ‘wobble’ from their New Year diet on the 5th January this year, before the Christmas decorations have even come down! By comparison, women are most likely to ‘wobble’ from a diet on the 14th January, proving women have more willpower.
8/10 well-meaning Brits will wobble from their New Year diet on the 14th January, with 7pm-8pm marking the time most of us will give up on our good intentions and reach for a snack. TV star Charlotte Crosby, who has two best-selling fitness DVDs, has transformed into an angel and a devil to help prevent the nation from a ‘diet wobble’ this January. She is encouraging Brits to swap their usual devilish treat for a far more angelic Hartley’s 10 Cal Jelly Pot. No more sweet cravings for Brits as Charlotte shoos away the devil and swaps high-calorie treats for a delicious low-calorie jelly pot. These jelly pots are only 10 calories and are a delicious guilt free snack.
And contrary to popular belief, when it comes to diet ‘wobbles’ we’re more likely to give in to temptation for a savoury snack or an alcoholic drink than a sweet treat:
Top five treats we miss the most when dieting:
1. Chocolate (52%)
2. Crisps (34%)
3. Take-away (27%)
4. Cheese (26%)
5. Alcoholic drinks (25%)
Charlotte Crosby said: “I know how hard losing weight can be, and I have tried so many fad diets, and they just don’t work. This January 26 million of us are going to be trying to shed those Christmas pounds, and 52% of people will wobble from their January diet because it is just too hard to stick to. The best way to lose weight is to make a lifestyle change. Start exercising more, even if it is just taking the stairs or walking instead of driving short distances. You also need to watch what you eat, making sure that you cut down on sugary foods. When I get a craving for something sweet, I just eat a Hartley’s 10 Cal Jelly Pot. They have only 10 calories in them and they satisfy that sweet craving, you also don’t get the guilty feeling after. You also need to be realistic and allow yourself cheat days because being really strict on yourself is just no fun.”
David Atkinson, Managing Director Grocery, The Hain Daniels Group, said: “Our research shows that millions of Brits all over the UK will start a diet this January, but many will go on to ‘wobble’. For those planning New Year diets, Hartley’s 10 Cal Jelly Pots are a great way to stay on track with only 10 calories a pot, helping avoid those ‘diet wobbles’”.
