Caran d’Ache and Mizensir have come together for a new collection of pencils called Caran d’Ache pencils edition no.9 which are made from fine woods and scented with the “Alps Spirit” fragrance.

In what has been a week of ‘firsts’ we have another one. For the first-time-ever, we’re writing an article dedicated to pencils! Yes, we know that we’ve been remiss in not writing about what is an essential part one’s life, but the truth is, the opportunities have been few and far between.

Collaborations seem to be the trend at this present time. The latest two companies to announce they’ll be combining talents are Caran d’Ache and Mizensir. Many of our readers will already be familiar with Caran d’Ache who’ve been making fine writing implements for more than a century. However, some of you might not be aware of what Mizensir does.

Mizensir is a Geneva-based family business founded 20 years ago. Its foundations were laid in the candle industry by skillfully turning fragrances into wax-based products. Latterly, they’ve turned their hands to developing a collection of dedicated perfumed products using the very finest raw materials.

So, here we are, one of the most respected manufacturers of writing implements and a company that specialises in scents and perfumes. How will these two companies be working together? Yes, you’ve guessed it – scented pencils!

Caran d’Ache has launched a new collection of scented pencils which are infused with the fragrance “Alps Spirit”. The four graphite pencils have been carved from fine woods and are manufactured entirely in Geneva.

The “Alps Spirit” fragrance is the brainchild of Mizensir founder Alberto Morillas and celebrates the splendour, authenticity and purity of the magnificent mountains.

The pencils are made from Ayous and Poplar wood. These woods were explicitly chosen for their renowned solidity and lightness, as well as being easy to sharpen.

The scent of the pencils combines patchouli, musk and nutmeg to invoke images of the grand forests. They also have hints of fresh orange which is said to recreate the sensation of watching the awe-inspiring sunrise over the Alpine peaks. Yes, we know this is a bold statement, and no, we’re not in a position to verify this as the pencils are so new to the market!

The Caran d’Ache and Mizensir collection adds a new twist to the traditional graphite pencils Caran d’Ache is known for.

The Caran d’Ache pencils edition no.9 is available now from all Caran d’Ache boutiques and points of sale, as well as from the eBoutique. For more information, visit www.carandache.com.
