Montegrappa has resumed its alliance with James Bond to mark the 60th anniversary of one of the secret agent’s most celebrated films, Goldfinger. The film, released in 1964, has cemented a place in popular culture. In celebration of the milestone, Montegrappa has unveiled the Goldfinger Special Issue Limited Edition Pens, described as “a combination of performance, refined presence and spycraft styling.”
Whenever Montegrappa launches a new pen collection, you know it will be special, and that’s certainly the case with its Goldfinger Special Issue Limited edition.
In 2023, the company known for making the world’s finest writing implements launched the 007 Special Issue and the 007 Spymaster Duo. The winning formulas found on those two releases have been used as the basis for its newly released Goldfinger models.
About the Goldfinger Pens
The pens use an aluminium and brass base and incorporate oxidisation and ion plating, enhanced with sandblasting to produce a blunt, golden sheen. These processes were specifically chosen as they accurately represent the unwavering greed of Auric Goldfinger, the main protagonist in the 1964 cinema classic.
Like the 007 Special Editions, the foundation of the Goldfinger Special Issue is its professional, all-metal build and tactical detailing. The pens have knurled and fluted components, adding extra grip, and are clothed with an industrial-tone hard satin finish.
Montegrappa’s artisans are known for their ability to implement clever design features. For its Goldfinger Special Issue, they have incorporated a brass hollow-point cap top containing a rifled steel insert. This clever touch pays homage to the iconic ‘gun barrel’ sequence at the beginning of all Bond films.
The Special Issue fountain pens feature a 14k gold nib and are built for travel with a convenient cartridge/converter filling.
As one would expect from Montegrappa, the ergonomics and engineering of the pens go far beyond what one would expect. The rollerballs and fountain pens have a robust design, weighing 55gms and 60gms, respectively, and each variant is supplied with a passport notebook and exclusive Goldfinger travel folio.
All Montegrappa writing instruments are manufactured individually by hand. The pens are priced from €750 / $750 and are available now from department stores, fine stationers, watch and jewellery boutiques, and via 007store.com and montegrappa.com.
