Qatar, a former pearl-fishing centre with humble beginnings, is now one of the richest countries in the Middle East region. In addition to the large oil and gas fields, Qatar is now seeing an explosion in its domestic economy, with strong growth in several sectors, including retail, hospitality, tourism, real estate, as well as a boom in construction. The country is also punching above its weight on the international political scene, and is taking a leadership role in the region as a peace broker and military peace keeper, and thanks to the illustrious and philanthropic ruling family, the country has become the champion of human rights and education in the Arab world and beyond.
With Qatar Airways becoming one of the world’s top airlines, Qatari investors buying up some of the West’s iconic assets, and with excitement building up to the 2022 World Cup, it seems that Qatar is permanently in the headlines these days.
Yet one thing that has remained constant in Qatar for countless years, is an appreciation of the finer things in life. Qatar has always been an important market for the prestigious watch and jewellery brands, with wealthy Qataris being known to seek the most exclusive luxury items for their private collections.
It is against this backdrop of explosive success and traditional heritage, that Montegrappa is now proud to announce the opening of its latest boutique in the Middle East region. The new boutique in ‘The Mall’ in Doha, Qatar’s capital, is a modern beacon for the one hundred year old company. The boutique showcases the brand’s full collections, from the beautiful and timeless hand-made writing instruments for which Montegrappa is famous, to the more modern accessories, including cufflinks, watches, leather goods and fragrances, that have been launched more recently as part of Montegrappa’s successful diversification into a full lifestyle brand while keeping its historic roots as Italy’s oldest manufacturer of pens and nibs.
“This is the beginning of a major expansion drive to open more boutiques for the brand in the region, and we have plans for more such points of sales in the surrounding countries including the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, commented Mr Sany Nahhas, Chairman of Montegrappa Middle East. “The new boutique will be an ideal showcase for the many special edition pens that Montegrappa will be launching this year as part of the company’s centenary celebrations. We are delighted and proud that we have started this expansion campaign in Qatar, a country where we have strong and successful partnerships, and the brand has been appreciated and sought after for many years.”
