The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced the return of its Spring Moorlander services, inviting guests to indulge in a delicious, hearty meal while journeying through the breathtaking North York Moors National Park.
With services available on select dates between March and June 2025, the Spring Moorlander offers a unique combination of heritage travel and comforting cuisine. Guests booking a March or April service by 28 February 2025 will automatically receive a 10% discount.
Departing from Grosmont Station, the journey spans the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s (NYMR) historic 18-mile line to Pickering Station, returning to Grosmont in approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Guests can choose between lunch services departing at 12:35pm or evening services departing at 7:15pm, making it a perfect experience for both leisurely afternoons and special evenings.
The carefully crafted three-course menu begins with a selection of starters, including Chef’s Homemade Sweet Potato & Red Pepper Soup, Classic Prawn Cocktail, or Farmhouse Pâté served with artisan bread.
The main course offerings include Roast Loin of Pork, Oven-Roast Chicken Supreme, or a vegetarian favourite, Chef’s Homemade Vegetable Wellington, all served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes.
For dessert, guests can indulge in Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon Tart, or a Selection of Cheese & Biscuits, followed by freshly brewed tea or coffee and handmade chocolates as the train makes its return to Grosmont.
Passengers can enjoy their meal aboard one of NYMR’s beautifully restored Pullman carriages, including:
- Garnet: Luxury first-class seating for an intimate experience.
- Robin: Restored for heritage travel since 1994.
- Jos de Crau: A West Coast Main Line treasure, brought to NYMR in 1983.
- Opal: Formerly of the Hull Pullman, now a cherished part of NYMR’s fleet.
