Golf’s most famous pub, the Jigger Inn at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, will be reopening its doors today. The historic venue has undergone significant renovations and now features a refreshed menu designed by the resort’s newly announced Executive Chef, Coalin Finn.
The most famous 19th hole in golf, the iconic Jigger Inn, dates back to the 1850s when it was the stationmaster’s lodge for the St Andrews Links railway station. Today, the traditional Scottish pub has been thoughtfully renovated to improve its offering.
Updates include an interior décor refresh whilst maintaining original features, including the brickwork, signature railway booth seating and signed Major Winners’ caps, which have returned to their home above the bar.
Other improvements include an expanded kitchen to allow enhanced menu offerings and improved service, in addition to the refreshed beer garden, which has been paved. Updated accessible restrooms, a new path connecting to St. Andrews’ main walkway and landscaping of the gardens complete the enhancements to this iconic establishment.
In addition to the interior revamp, Executive Chef Coalin Finn has reimagined the Jigger Inn’s menu. An acclaimed chef with experience across some of the UK’s finest establishments, Coalin’s pub fare offers a fresh take on the classic Jigger Inn menu, focused on high-quality and locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
The standout dishes include the Great Glen venison charcuterie board, Ayrshire haggis crumpets and traditional Cullen skink. Pub classics return, including the inn’s renowned Beef Burger and its Jigger Ale battered haddock and chips.
The expanded dessert options include seasonal ice creams sourced from St Andrews’ very own world-famous and award-winning ice cream shop Jannettas, as Old Course Hotel continues to celebrate the local town. Guests can also enjoy an extensive selection of drinks, including Scottish whiskies and local ales, featuring the pub’s Jigger Ale.
“We’re thrilled to reopen the doors to the Jigger Inn following its recent renovations and to welcome new and returning guests to enjoy golf’s most famous pub,” says Louise Dougall, Jigger Inn Bar Manager.
“Offering hearty food and perfectly poured pints, the Jigger Inn proudly remains the same Scottish pub we all know and love, now with a refreshed space and updated menu celebrating local ingredients”.
The Jigger Inn reopening is part of a larger series of food and beverage enhancements underway at Old Course Hotel. Most recently, the resort unveiled its new rooftop bar and dining outlet, the West Deck, which offers seating areas and dining pods for outdoor get-togethers.
