Christies follow up on the heels of a record breaking auction in Hong Kong by offering for sale an Iconic Reference 2499 watch that is estimated to sell for in excess of $1million. The auction on the 15th June will be featuring over 400 watches, from vintage to modern.

The stand out watch at the June 15th Auction will be the iconic Reference 2499 in 18k gold. The Patek Philippe Reference 2499 was manufactured in 1960 and this rare perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch is one of the greatest models produced by the venerable firm and continues to be the standard by which other watch makers measure their designs.
Their was only 349 Patek Philippe Reference 2499 in 18k gold watches in this reference which were produced between 1950 and 1985, and the upcoming sale marks the first time in recent memory that a watch of this caliber has been offered on the American auction market.
The obvious demand from collectors for a Reference 2499 in 18k gold and indeed other rare Patek Philippe timepieces has escalated in recent seasons, as demonstrated by the exceptional prices achieved at Christie’s salerooms in Geneva and Hong Kong earlier this season. Maintained in near-original condition and with its signature perfectly raised and intact, this Patek Philippe Reference 2499 in 18k gold is to be offered in New York on June 15 is conservatively estimated at $600,000-1,000,000.
