Linthwaite House in the Lake District will be reopening on July 31st and to celebrate they’ve launched two new packages – “Pedal & Picnic” and “Row & Recharge” in conjunction with local Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan.
It’s been a while since we last paid a visit to Linthwaite House, but it’s still fresh in our memories, as is the extraordinary countryside surrounding it.
The Lake District has a very special lure for people the world over, and this has been very evident during lockdown with people up and down the country sneaking away to it when they were told to stay at home.
Today, there’s no more need to sneak. People can now enjoy the areas wide-open spaces, far from the madding crowd, enjoying some lakeside relaxation or treating themselves to the new “Pedal & Picnic” and “Row & Recharge” packages at the beautiful Linthwaite House.
As we’re on the subject of Linthwaite’s new packages, let’s have a look at them in a bit more detail.
Pedal & Picnic
The “Pedal & Picnic” package is aimed towards those with a little more energy to spare. As you’ve guessed from the title, it does involve a bicycle. The package encourages you to experience the stunning natural beauty in the Lake District national park, but a word of caution, this area includes some of the country’s highest peaks so be sure to plan your route!
This package includes two nights’ accommodation, daily full English breakfast, bicycle hire and a delicious picnic prepared by Simon Rogan’s award-winning Henrock team; rates start from £690 for two people sharing a Classic Room for two nights.
Row & Recharge
If you’d prefer something a little more laid-back, then the Row & Recharge package is the one for you. With this package, you don’t need to leave the comfy confines of Linthwaite House. You can either just sit in the hotel’s old-fashioned wooden boat while enjoying the water lapping around you. Or head out onto the hotel’s private lake for a slow leisurely row. If you’re a fan of wildlife, you’ll be excited to know the lake is home to a mass of wildlife, including trout, ducks, otters and more.
The “Row & Recharge” package includes two nights’ accommodation, daily full English breakfast, use of the rowboat and a delicious picnic prepared by Simon Rogan’s award-winning Henrock team (which can either be enjoyed on the boat or set up somewhere else in the garden); rates start from £690 for two people sharing a Classic Room for two nights.
If you fancy a break from the cycling and rowing, there’s plenty of peaceful areas to unwind in the hotel’s grounds. The grounds contain plenty of things to keep you occupied including a boules pitch (above), a croquet lawn and a large outdoor chess set.
