Luxurious Magazine’s health reporter, Sabi Phagura, takes to the golf course in Essex to improve her technique with the help of the professionals.
If you feel like a golf widow every time your partner goes to hit some balls, or you’re an enthusiast who wants to get some practice in, the Little Channels Golf Club in Essex is a great venue to head to. From beginners to pros, you can certainly learn something valuable to aid you on the course.
There is no doubt that when given step by step instructions, a sport lesson is far more enjoyable than relying on luck. Sure, I had hit a few golf balls in the past around various courses around the world, but rather aimlessly. So when professional player and coach, James Scadem took me under his wing to teach me, I was all ears. Besides I would finally understand Richard when he talks of his love for the sport.
For anyone believing golf is a genteel, lacking-any–fitness game, they need to think again. Over time, the sport can help the player to reach a good fitness level. Carting golf clubs around and walking several miles aside, the golf swing involves a large range of motion and muscle activity throughout the body. The amount of twisting and turning I had to do with the entire body during my practice was seriously unbelievable. Add to that James’ advice of imagining the balls to be weighty bosu balls, and the swing was executed with some serious force.
It was just as well we were staying overnight at the beautiful parkland estate Channels Lodge. Taking leave from the 22-bay floodlit driving range, Richard and I checked into the Maple Suite. One of just 17 suites, each one has been decorated individually to a boutique style standard. This super spacious modern room is awash with black and cream, has all the mod cons including a docking station with surround sound, under floor heating as well as a glass wall which allows for plenty of light. Yet the converted courtyard suite has plenty of character, especially the original high ceilings with its exposed beams which were great to look while laying on the super king-sized bed.
