Swiss Watch manufacturer Maurice Lacroix has launched a new timepiece within its popular Pontos range called The Pontos S Chronograph, with a design that embraces the worlds of Sport and Elegance.

The worlds of sport and fashion have been intertwined for a long time, with manufacturers like Nike and Adidas creating ranges of clothing that can be worn for sport but look equally great while wearing out for dinner. Maurice Lacroix, the Swiss watchmaker, has picked up on this theme and combined the elegance of a luxury watch with the functionality of a sports timepiece. The result is their new Pontos S Chronograph.

It is a significant 43mm in diameter, allowing you to see every detail on the dial. The watch has a chronograph, day and date, beautiful detailing, and a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel. Featuring a sandblasted dial, the Pontos S Chronograph is available in two colours: silvery white or dark blue. The minute and hour hands are lined with Super-LumiNova®. and partially open-worked.

The minute track combines crisp lines and red Arabic numerals, optimising overall legibility. Facetted and applied indexes highlight the hours, shining brightly with a suggestion of light. Positioned between each index and the minute track, a rectangular-shaped soupçon of SLN increases clarity in dim light conditions.

When you first look at the Pontos S Chronograph, the dial appears to have just two counters arranged along a north-south axis. Closer examination reveals a small seconds display at 9 o’clock and a day and date display opposite. The standout counters consist of a 30-minute register at 12 o’clock and a 12-hour register below, endowed with sandblasted centres and framed with snailed detail.

The design team at Maurice Lacroix have enriched the composition with numerous elements, presenting dial components at different heights and judiciously using colours to enhance your experience.

The bezel consists of scratch-resistant ceramic, equipped with a tachymeter, a function that allows the wearer to determine the speed of an object over a known distance—underlining the sporty character of the watch while simultaneously exhibiting a classical, retro appearance.

Maurice Lacroix’s reputation for delivering high-perceived value is upheld with the movement adorned with a combination of perlage, Côtes de Genève, and sun brush decoration. The brand has retained some design elements found on former models, such as the elongated push-pieces and the distinctive double-stepped lugs. The case showcases satin-brushed and polished surfaces, delivering contrast and a unique sense of style. A sapphire crystal pane to the watch’s rear allows sight of the automatic ML112 calibre.

The Pontos S Chronograph is supplied on a colour co-ordinated, M-branded nylon strap with tone-on-tone stitching lined with luxurious nubuck leather. The timepiece is also available with a three-row steel bracelet. You can change the watch’s appearance using the Easy Strap Exchange system, simply swapping the bracelet or strap for an alternative without needing tools.

With its capacity to measure elapsed periods or determine speeds using the tachymeter scale, the Pontos S Chronograph is unquestionably sporty. However, this watch proves eminently elegant while remaining highly versatile, thereby befitting any situation.

The Pontos range starts at £3100 through to £3400. If you want to read more about Maurice Lacroix’s range of watches, visit www.mauricelacroix.com.
