Porsche has made a flying start to the beginning of spring: in March of this year, the sports car manufacturer sold 12,094 vehicles worldwide, achieving an uplift of 21.2 percent compared with the same month the year before. Purchasers of the new 911 Carrera Cabriolet models in particular were able to enjoy their first outings in their Porsche with the top open.
Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG, said: “Deliveries in March illustrate the value of our balanced global posture: Porsche is able to respond to the market situation in all regions and leverage the growth potential. At the same time, we are igniting the next stage of our model firework by launching the new Boxster and Boxster S.”
Sports cars from the Porsche stable were in very strong demand around the world in March 2012. In the Middle Kingdom, 2,572 new cars were delivered to Chinese customers; an increase of 63.3 percent compared with March 2011. The 911, Cayenne, Panamera, Boxster and Cayman sports cars were very popular in the European market as well, selling 5,214 units (+29.7 %). In Germany, Porsche handed over 1,632 vehicles to happy customers, posting an increase of 15.5 per cent in the process compared with the same month the year before. Deliveries in the USA were marked by the change of model of the rear and mid-engine sports cars 911 and Boxster.
With 430 hp and a unique sound design, the Panamera GTS is delighting car fans worldwide: 209 customers had the pleasure of taking delivery of their vehicle in March. A total of 2,811 units of the sports saloon were handed over to customers in the reporting month (+34.8 %). The leader among the Porsche models in March 2012 remains the Cayenne: the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer sold 5,888 units of the SUV worldwide (+34.2 %).
