Relaxing
At dusk, it’s time to roll down the blinds, and as darkness falls without any element of light pollution, you can look up to the moon and hunt for the constellations on a cloud-free night, thanks to the translucent opening. Alternatively, you can also sit on the sofa and stream some mellow music from your smartphone or tablet using the dome’s own Wi-Fi network and Sonos soundbar to create a cosy ambience.

In summary…

The Private Hill offers the perfect compromise if you wish to immerse yourself in the great outdoors and be surrounded by nature, but don’t wish to navigate the more adventurous elements of camping in the countryside. This is a true break away from the daily grind, and a unique destination like no other which we can’t recommend highly enough.

Local attractions
With the North Yorkshire Moors and Howardian Hills on the doorstep, there’s plenty of country estates, parklands and walks in the area, so it’s worth bringing your bike and wellies along, as there are lots to explore in the vicinity by pedal-power or on foot. The nearby market town of Malton, which is a short drive away from The Private Hill, hosts different events throughout the year so it’s worth checking the Visit Malton website to see what’s on prior to your stay.

During the weekend that we visited, we were able to enjoy the Harvest Food Festival, a two-day event in the centre which celebrates the region’s finest produce, and that also allowed us to stock up on some local specialities to enjoy during our stay.
