Three Affordable Products That Make Working From Home Even Better

Kikkerland Sound Pebble in Grey

The final product we’re featuring in this guide is suitable for use during and at the end of the day.

The Sound Pebble

Some people will find one of the drawbacks to working at home is the absence of background noise. If you’re not used to working in a silent environment, some of the only options you have are to listen to the radio or the TV. This can prove to be highly inconvenient when a skype or telephone call comes in, resulting in you frantically rushing for the remote in the vain attempt to find the TV mute button or dashing to the radio and trying to get back to answer the call before it rings off. The Sound Pebble addresses this problem.

What is the Sound Pebble?
It’s a USB cordless sound machine that is shaped like a pebble. It’s 5 inches long, just over three inches wide and approximately an inch and a half in height. The pebble has six built-in sounds:

  1. Ambient white noise
  2. Falling Rain
  3. Water flowing in a river
  4. Ocean Waves
  5. Campfire
  6. Rainforest

This is another one of those inconspicuous sit-on-the-desk products and is very simple to use. My personal favourite is the ambient noise which reminds me of when I am on a plane. Others such as the sound of the rain forest are nice to listen to, but unlike the ambient sound, can’t really be left on in the background when talking to someone.

Its small size makes it ideal for the desk, and on a couple of occasions, I have forgotten it was actually there and still working away! The pebble has a pretty decent volume level which can be adjusted by pressing buttons on the side of it. On the highest level, it is way too loud and would probably be best suited to my father-in-law. I’m quite sure that with the windows open and on the maximum volume level, anyone walking by would be able to hear the sounds of a babbling brook inside our house!

Another major benefit of the Sound Pebble is after a hard day’s work when you are tucked up in bed; there’s nothing like the sound of rainfall or a river to help you drift off to sleep. It doesn’t have a built-in timer, so it stays running during the night for up to six hours. However, it is quick to fully charge, and I was able to listen to it while it was charging in the morning.

The Sound Pebble is priced at £29.99 and is available to purchase here.

This year, we came to the realisation that the best things in life don’t always need to come with the biggest price tags. Some of the new products we’ve featured this year have given the most expensive products in the world a run for their money and have been well within the majority of peoples budgets. This year has seen many changes in attitudes, and one of these is that simple luxuries are available to all.
