Radisson’s new 90-room hotel will be located in the coastal town of Liepaja, Latvia, in a beautiful art deco building in the town centre.
The Liepaja property will undergo a full renovation program and, when finished, will retain its beautiful history without compromising on the services required by the modern traveller.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of Radisson Hotel Group, said, “We continue offering the largest network of upscale hotels in the Baltic. Latvia remains an important market for us, and this will be our first hotel outside of Riga, where we currently have 7 hotels in operation and one under construction. This is a welcome addition to our 20 hotels in operation and in the pipeline in the region”.
The 90-room hotel is located in a historic art deco building in the city centre, within walking distance to all key attractions, businesses and the beautiful beaches.
In addition to a restaurant and lobby bar, the hotel will also offer two unique meeting rooms and two banquet halls for all types of events, galas and meetings.
Radisson Hotel Group offers Radisson Meetings, which focuses on the guest experience and is 100% Carbon Neutral. The gym and spa will provide guests with everything they need to relax and rejuvenate in an inviting atmosphere.
Liepaja is the 3rd largest city in Latvia, located on the west coast of the country, close to the border with Lithuania. The Liepaja Special Economic Zone has been created to help the city attract international investment, and there is also a thriving port.
In addition to business travellers, there has been an increase in leisure guests and tourists to the city over the past years. Many international travellers come to visit the city to experience events organised at the Great Amber Concert Hall or to enjoy the variety of sports and cultural events happening in Liepaja.
Liepaja International Airport is only 8.5 km away, and the train station is located 2km from the hotel, offering regular trains to various destinations such as Riga. Additionally, guests can get the ferry and bus to and from the city.
Uldis Sesks, Deputy Chairman of the Liepaja City Council, said, “Having an international hotel chain of such calibre entering Liepaja marks a new milestone for our hospitality industry that we have worked towards over the last few years. Liepaja will become the first city outside of the capital, Riga, and its surroundings will house a highly acclaimed hotel brand.
This is undoubtedly recognition of the versatility of Liepaja’s artistic and cultural life, rich sports infrastructure, airport facilities, connectivity, as well as the comfortable and accessible environment that makes Liepaja attractive for work and leisure.”
Radisson is one of the world’s leading hotel chains, with more than 1,400 hotels in countless countries. Therefore the presence of this hotel in Liepaja opens up new opportunities for us, new capacities and adds a new landmark.
“It serves as a well-known sign of recognition and quality of the city itself, encouraging visitors from Scandinavia, Germany, the United States and many other countries to discover and explore this region, making it more well-known.”
