When diving into the crystal clear waters surrounding the Maldives a watch’s reliability is paramount. The Reservoir Hydrosphere Bronze x Revolution has been specifically designed for situations like this and is one of the better-looking divers watches on currently available.
This collaboration with Revolution will see just one hundred timepieces produced at £4150 and available from November 2020 for December delivery. The Reservoir Hydrosphere Bronze x Revolution has already been recognised at the” Oscars” of the watch world the Grand Prix de L’Horlogerie de Genève. The nominations were announced on September 15th 2020; the annual event has been running since the academy started them in 2001.
The watch is large with a 45mm bronze case ideal for being read underwater. Other assets required when you are checking the time while wearing a mask are a rotating bezel with double scale graduation, allowing you to preset dive times.
The watch comes under higher pressure the further you dive, so it has a helium valve to handle the depths, along with a power indicator essential to show you if the watch needs charging before you enter the water. A nod to diving watches of bygone days the Reservoir Hydrosphere Bronze has a single needle on the dial, simple and clear.
The self-winding mechanism allows you up to 37 hours of power, so a quick winding before bed is all that is required to give you plenty of energy. The watch comes in a gorgeous waterproof case which also serves as the box and contains an original print by renowned illustrator Alain Bouldouyre.
A little bit about the GPHG, Grand Prix d’Horologerie de Genève which gave the Reservoir watch the nomination. It is an association recognised throughout the world to showcase the excellence of Watchmaking and this year has nominated 84 timepieces in 14 categories.
The awards will take place in Geneva on the 12th November 2020 where the best of the best brands will be hoping their creation wins the category award and possibly the premium Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix. Thirty members of the academy meet behind closed doors at the headquarters, to study each watch then vote.
