ModaMiami will be featuring a very special showcase of Royal vehicles on March 1st and 2nd. Land Rover Classic is taking five of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Land Rovers to the United States, including personal estate cars and state review vehicles, honouring Her Majesty and her family’s strong connection to the iconic motoring brand.
ModaMiami, which takes place at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, will be hosting a collection of vehicles used by the British Royal family. Each was either part of the household fleet or used in an official capacity, such as state visits. Joining the Royal vehicle display will be the first Land Rover Series I State Review vehicle, and a Royal Family owned Series I Land Rover owned by the Royal family.
Below, we take a closer look at the Royal vehicles that await guests of ModaMiami.
1954 Land Rover Series I State Review Vehicle
This vehicle was the very first of the State Review Landrovers. It was used by HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip on a six-month tour of Commonwealth countries. The Series I boasted a custom-designed rear platform and is now in the hands of a US-based private collector.
1954 Land Rover Series I (NXN 1)
This vehicle was originally ordered by HM King George VI, the father of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and was regularly used by senior royals at Balmoral, the 53,684-acre Royal estate in Aberdeenshire. In 2010, Land Rover apprentices fully restored the vehicle, which is now part of the Land Rover Classic collection.
1990 Range Rover State Review Vehicle
This was the second Royal State Range Rover created. It was featured on Queen Elizabeth II’s 1994 Christmas card, which showed the Queen and Prince Philip at the D-Day Landings in Arromanches. Today, the Range Rover is part of the British Motor Museum collection.
1983 Defender 110 V8
The Defender 110 V8 was used on two Royal estates, Balmoral and Sandringham. It was a personal commission used by Her Majesty for Royal pursuits and general transport. Her Majesty chose the dark green exterior colour, and it was subject to special customisation, including leather seats, a unique radio system, grab handles and footsteps. Like the 1990 Range Rover state review vehicle, it is now part of the British Motor Museum Collection.
2005 Range Rover L322 State Review
The Range Rover L322 was Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operation 5th Royal Review vehicle. It is painted in claret (the royal colour) and features hand-painted crests on the tailgate and doors. The car, fitted with black leather upholstery, was used to transport the Queen’s grandchildren at her ninetieth birthday parade in 2016.
