Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok is set to play a pivotal role in the future of Thailand’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector in 2025 following a comprehensive renovation of the hotel’s conference & banqueting facilities – including an entire floor of riverside meeting space.
Located opposite luxury lifestyle complex ICONSIAM, Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok is a premium urban resort offering a fully immersive riverfront experience that blends authentic Thai hospitality with waterside dining and river cruising.
It is now inviting professional meeting planners and corporate groups to elevate their events in its newly reimagined MICE facilities, which comprise 2,800 square meters of total floor space – including two ballrooms and 22 light-filled meeting spaces – all on the same level and framing views of the “River of Kings”.
The expansive Royal Orchid Sheraton Ballroom, overlooking the undulations of Bangkok’s iconic waterway, can host up to 1,150 people for the grandest of gatherings, including major conferences, weddings, gala dinners and award ceremonies. A spectacular 22-meter-long LED screen will make a striking impact to enhance all events.
Alternatively, the fully flexible Riverside Ballroom can cater for up to 320 delegates or be divided into multiple smaller sections to meet the unique needs of each group. A series of naturally-lit meeting rooms – Pompadour, Catteleya, Calanthe, Ayaret, Vanda, and Panisea – can host sessions for between 12 and 150 guests, including business meetings, team training, product launches, media briefings and more.
Waterfront terraces also provide the backdrop for glamorous photo shoots, cocktail receptions and celebratory events.
Meeting planners can “Connect Responsibly” at Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok, which is in line with Marriott Bonvoy Events’ new sustainable MICE program. Every event hosted at the hotel will be provided with a Meeting Impact Report to track their emissions, which can then be offset by purchasing carbon credits for a range of environmental projects in association with Marriott’s partner, South Pole.
With the addition of measures to tackle water usage, food waste, plastics and emissions, organisers can be assured their event will have a minimum impact on the planet while leaving a lasting impression on its guests.
This commitment to sustainability has helped the hotel achieve a series of honours, including Green Key certification and the ASEAN MICE Venue Standard, which was created by the Association of South East Asian Nations to ensure the consistent quality of meeting products and protect the region’s natural and cultural resources.
These certificates form part of Marriott International’s Sustainability and Social Impact Goals, which include global targets to reduce water use by 15%, carbon intensity by 30%, waste to landfill by 45%, and food waste by 50% by the end of 2025.
“At Marriott International, we understand that today’s meeting planners and eco-conscious companies are seeking events that drive positive change – not only for their business but for the planet. That’s why we have made a commitment to offering highly innovative, sustainable and responsible meeting solutions guided by our Serve360 sustainability and social impact platform.
“The outstanding new meeting facilities at Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok are a great example of this strategy in action, and I am proud to see this iconic riverside hotel pioneering a new era of responsible MICE, in line with our overarching aim of reaching net zero emissions by 2050,” stated Brad Edman, Market Vice President, Thailand, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International.
The revitalisation of Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel Bangkok’s MICE facilities and its commitment to sustainability also aligns perfectly with the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau’s (TCEB) strategy to position Thailand as a premier MICE destination.
By promoting unique experiences, innovative solutions and eco-friendly practices, TCEB, along with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), is striving to elevate the country’s global competitiveness and drive economic growth through world-class events.
