Astral X, New Sustainable and Superlight Glasses from Rudy Project

Astral X: The New Superlight Glasses By Rudy Project

The UK is currently experiencing (for the time being) bright, sunny weather, which gives us an ideal reason to write about Rudy Project’s latest release, named Astral X. These new sunglasses have been designed for all outdoor activities and offer a wider lens, increased protection from strong light and harsh winds, while still being supremely comfortable.

As mentioned above, Rudy Project’s newly launched Astral X are the ideal glasses for sports and rigorous outdoor activities. For their latest creation, the company took an already excellent design and has added even more enhancements to make Astral X suitable for everything from beach volleyball to boating or canoeing and cross-country skiing.

Although this is Rudy Project’s debut in Luxurious Magazine, we’re no strangers to the brand, as in recent years, Paul and Natasha Godbold have purchased four pairs of their glasses and use them as their go-to when hiking and mountain climbing, and if they’ve seen fit to part with their own money, they must be good!

According to the company, the latest addition to their extensive range boasts exceptional UV protection, is lightweight, and offers clear, sharp, and comfortable vision in any condition. Below, we’ll take a look at these features in more detail.

Astral X is an evolution of Rudy Project’s highly popular Astral glasses. It retains all of the features that made its predecessors famous, such as the lightness aspect and the secure fit even during the most vigorous activities.

In addition, Astral X introduces a wider lens to increase protection from harsh winds and bright light. The lens shape has also been optimised in collaboration with professional athletes, including the Norwegian cross-country skier Johannes Klæbo.

One of the major selling points of Astral X is its weight. The glasses weigh under 30 grams and are customisable thanks to an adjustable nose pad and wrap-around temples, which ensure stability even during the most intense activities.

The RP Optics polycarbonate lenses in the glasses are lightweight and durable. They offer 91% UV protection (category 3) and clear, precise vision in all light conditions. The lenses are coated with an anti-reflective treatment that reduces glare and improves contrast. This also helps to reduce visual fatigue and enhance detail perception, allowing you to appreciate every detail of the landscape.

The frames are constructed using a sustainable material called Rilsan®, a polymer derived from castor oil. Additionally, Rudy Project offers a customised optical solution for this model with an RX insert, allowing them to practice their favourite activities without compromising visual correction.

Astral X is available in various colour and finish combinations, including mirrored lenses and crystal or matte temples, to meet every taste and need. The glasses are priced from £166 and are available now in leading retailers or via www.rudyproject.com.
