The Natural Power of the Elements at Scarlet Hotel, Cornwall

Scarlet Hotel, an eco-inspired sanctuary on the clifftops of Cornwall’s Mawgan Porth, has always connected deeply to nature and its surroundings. To celebrate this special connection, it has introduced four new well-being journeys inspired by the essential elements of Ayurveda.

The individually curated packages each represent one of the four core natural elements—Earth, Water, Fire, and Air—and bring balance and harmony to improve both body and mind.

Guests can enjoy grounding rituals with mineral-rich mud treatments [Earth]; revitalisation with hot poultice treatments and heat experiences [Fire]; serenity through open-air hot tubs and nourishing facials [Air]; and relaxation through Hydro experiences and invigorating full body scrubs [Water].

Earth (Terra) Journey
Earth signifies grounding energy, influencing the body’s muscles and bones. Scarlet’s Earth Journey utilises the power of nature with a Rhassoul Clay treatment and a seasonal scrub to remove toxins and impurities from the body. Each guest is gifted an Oula Body Mud to continue the journey at home.

A series of grounding rituals, including a Shiropada Massage and the choice of either a Rhassoul or Hammam, encourage guests to slow down, release muscular tension, and reduce signs of stress. The team at Scarlet has also created a personal guide to their most loved walking routes, making note of spots for reflection along the way.

Available from 1 September – 30 November 2024.

Fire (Ember) Journey
Symbolising energy and transformation, the Fire element is seen as a purifying force that brings about change and renewal. The Fire Journey at Scarlet includes a Hot Poultice Massage to relieve aches and pains and nourish the skin, while the Copper Hot Tub invites guests to sink into a warm bath to soothe tired muscles.

Head Chef Jack Clayton has created a much-loved warming recipe as a take-home alongside a gifted Jam Industries Beanie and St Eval candle to continue their Fire Journey during guests’ stay.

Available from 1 December 2024 – 28 February 2025.

Air (Ethereal) Journey
The Air element governs the nervous system and influences mental functions such as thinking, creativity, and communication. Inspired by the season’s gentle coastal breezes and the Ayurvedic principles of clarity and movement, this break includes uplifting experiences designed to invigorate mind and body.

Reflecting this philosophy, the two-night Air Journey includes a Tula facial to combat environmental aggressors, ageing, and stress and support the skin’s natural balance. The break also features a session in one of Scarlet’s iconic Cliff Top Hot Tubs, allowing guests to relax and welcome the gentle breeze of the Atlantic coast.

Guests will receive a personal guide from the Scarlet team on the wildflowers they can find locally and an Atlantic Blanket and Breathwork book, enabling them to find a peaceful spot.

Available from 1 March 2025 to 31 May 2025.

Water (Aqua) Journey
Water protects the body and provides essential nourishment, soothing pain and inflammation. This break draws inspiration from the soothing qualities of water, the ocean, and Scarlet’s natural reed pool, as well as fluidity and balance, offering cooling experiences to rejuvenate the body and mind.

Representing the Water element, Scarlet’s Water Journey includes the signature Cliff Top Hot Tub alongside a full body scrub, bringing focus to the body by exfoliating, cleansing, and nourishing the skin. Guests are also invited to follow Scarlet’s guide to cold water swimming in the outdoor natural reed pool to improve muscle and mental strength.

Guests are gifted Dock & Bay towels and a guide to cold-water swimming to continue enjoying the rejuvenating power of water after their stay.

Available from 1 June – 31 August 2025.

Each of the four packages includes accommodation in a Sea-View Room, a three-course dinner on one night of the stay at Scarlet Restaurant, daily breakfast, and complimentary access to Scarlet’s Spa facilities, including the indoor pool, outdoor natural reed pool, clifftop sauna, and steam room.

Prices start from £450 per night, based on two people sharing a Just Right double room. Each break’s availability correlates to its assigned season.
