The best of British Balloon pilots will fill the skies of Silverstone this summer as, for the first time in its star-studded history, the Home of British Motorsport hosts a ballooning Grand Prix.
Three new British Balloon and Airship Club (BBAC) competitions, including the new Grand Prix, will be just part of a myriad of spectacular aerial displays on the bill for the 2016 Silverstone Classic, which takes place on 29-31 July.
With the introduction of the new BBAC GP, Silverstone Classic visitors will have the opportunity to witness 15 of the UK’s most elite hot air balloon pilots, including the World Junior Champion, in exhilarating airborne competition.
Also taking to the skies at the 2016 event is the Twister Aerobatics team, which wowed crowds with its jaw-dropping formation flying at the 2015 edition of the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival – attended by more than 100,000 visitors.
Completing the programme of high octane aerial acts are The Blades, made up of former Red Arrow pilots flying in close formation, and Wildcat Aerobatics, promising crowd-thrilling displays.
In addition to these spectacular displays, visitors to this year’s Silverstone Classic can expect a weekend of ‘Rocking and Racing’ with the Boomtown Rats, The Stranglers, and Reef headlining two nights of live music amid the three-day celebration of historic British motor racing.
Tickets to the action-packed weekend also include full paddock access, impressive track parades and displays from over 100 car clubs featuring more than 10,000 cars over the weekend. Interactive activities, dynamic demonstrations, live music, aerial displays, a vintage funfair and shopping village provide a festival experience for the whole family.
Families can enjoy discounts through the newly introduced Family Ticket which includes tickets and camping for a family of four.
Full information on all tickets (which must be purchased in advance) – as well as hospitality packages and weekend festival camping – can be found on the event website at: www.silverstoneclassic.com.
