Just a few weeks ago the world of professional photography saw the launch of the New Hasselblad Lunar worldwide. What many people probably did not know was that during the same period the Sweden-based manufacturer was readying itself for the launch of another brand new camera, The Stellar.
Dr. Larry Hansen, Hasselblad’s Chairman and CEO said: ”I’m determined that Hasselblad will have camera solutions at the top of each photo-segment in the marketplace, including SLR-type cameras and smaller compact capture devices”.
Living up to his promises and aspirations, Hasselblad has been able to make this happen in conjunction with Sony resulting in high performance and precious finishes.
During the Italian launch of Hasselblad Lunar, Dr. Larry Hansen exclusively unveiled to the invited guests the first prototype of Hasselblad Stellar.
New Business Development Director Mr. Alessandrini declared: “With Stellar you can be a complete photo-novice or you can choose to take control of the camera’s features manually. And when you buy this camera it will be presented complete with its naturally tanned Italian leather wrist strap in a select and distinguished-looking ‘jewellery’ box”.
The technical specs including the CMOS sensor with effective 20.2 Megapixels, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 10.4 mm – 37.1 mm zoom lens (equivalent to a 28mm – 100 mm full-frame lens) and the 1080/50i/60i HD video are not the only reasons to have one of these new wonderful cameras.
The Stellar is the second ‘jewel’ realized by Hasselblad for the consumer photographic marketplace, the follow-up camera launched specifically for the lifestyle and luxury sector.
Dr. Larry Hansen stated : “It has always been my ambition to enable all fans of the iconic Hasselblad brand to have an opportunity to own one of our cameras. Now discerning enthusiasts of beautiful design, ergonomic and advanced camera technology have real choices”. He also added: “With Stellar, we have an extremely easy camera to use but it comes with the exquisite image quality and high-end handling that all our customers expect from Hasselblad. Just point and shoot and Stellar’s advanced technology, combined with the magnificence of ZEISS lenses, takes care of the rest. We’ve packed full HD 1080/60p video with manual controls in this model too and this camera comes with a fantastic 3.6 x optical zoom. Our larger than average point and shoot sensor enables the user to capture extra light and reproduce every scene in truly stunning detail. And with wide range ISO sensitivity it’s now possible to shoot in almost any light.”
The Hasselblad Stellar is all about high quality performance, design and style with its wide range of finishes.
The Hasselblad Stellar is available in five style variations:
- Mahogany wood grip
- Wenge wood grip
- Walnut wood grip
- Carbon fibre grip
- Padouk wood grip
Thanking Ms. Michele Channer, Hasselblad’s International Sales Director, and Mr. Luca Alessandrini, Hasselblad’s New Business Development Director, I already had the opportunity to use the New Hasselblad Stellar and explore the design, feel and features. I was able to take a few pictures and, besides the obvious quality performances, the first thing that attracted me is the manoeuvrability, the strength and the comfortable grip.
The brand new Hasselblad Stellar camera has a price tag of 1,480 Euros (excluding tax), and offers SLR-like handling with a full range of controls for those photographers who want more technical involvement with their image capture.
It’s a wonderful easy-to-use pocket camera that merges the renowned quality of the Iconic Sweden-based manufacturer with stylish Italian design, a camera that will surely meet approval from aficionados of luxury and the thousands of Hasselblad admirers.
