Ragdale Hall Health Hydro & Thermal Spa
What?
A classic getaway in the rolling Leicestershire countryside.
With its steady stream of awards over the past decade, Ragdale Hall still manages to remain a down to earth yet luxurious spa escape. It boasts 12 heat and water experiences, which unravel the journey of its renowned thermal spa experience. Once you arrive here, you are quickly transported into a blissful enclosure brimming with spa-time treasures ready to be discovered. The ‘holy grail’ find is the Candle Pool – a mosaic candle-lit cavern with water heated to a constant 34 degrees Celsius. Other features include indoor/ outdoor waterfall pool with small bays and inlets for privacy, plus a warm heat-seated Thought Zone playing ever-changing music, images and colours that’s designed to inspire and encourage positivity. There’s also a Colourflow Cave steam chamber scented with jasmine and chamomile, a eucalyptus infused humid Volcanic Salt Bath to promote healthy breathing, another Scented Room, a Rose Sauna softly laced with the smell of roses and various experience showers and mists, including a Cave Shower – mimicking the sound and refreshing effects of a tropical thunderstorm. The generous size of the main swimming pool with additional whirlpools, twinned with the fact there is a separate one dedicated for those who wish to exercise, won’t fail to disappoint.
Best For: Couples, groups and out of town stays. There’s sure to be something suitable for all with its abundance of wider facilities available – its fitness centre, tennis courts and gourmet restaurants to name just a few.
Treatment We Love: With brands on board such as Clarins, Decleor, Elemis and Spa Find (A natural mineral therapy brand), again, there’s an eagerly boundless attempt to offer something for everyone. Our favourite is the Spa Find Luxury Mineral Mud Infusion. Exclusive to the spa, this almost two hour experience starts with minerals, mud and oils being swept on to your face, body and scalp. After this cleansing ritual, the massage begins from head to toe, finishing with a warm Dead Sea mud cocoon.

Thai Square Spa
What?
A taste of Thai rejuvenation in the heart of London’s theatreland.
You would be mistaken for thinking that Thai Square only serves up treats of the edible kind. However, this restaurant chain also has a special spa up its sleeve that undeniably trumps its rather mainstream dining experience. Tucked away behind the busier streets of Covent Garden and housed in a beautiful Victorian converted warehouse, entry down to the basement level reveals a warm, welcoming and tranquil area that’s softly lit with rich dark panelled walls and floor. The space then opens up to a staggering 14 treatment rooms, including five specially designed Thai massage rooms and two that contain sumptuous copper baths. There’s also a Mosaic steam rasul suite for deep cleansing rituals.
Best For: Busy city workers and shoppers who are in need of a seriously soporific spa escape during their lunch hour and most of all, love Thai influences.
Treatment We Love: Traditional Thai massage is our firm favourite, of course. The one hour therapy begins with (like all rituals offered here) a floral foot soak and then, adopting the style of deep tissue using pressure points and stretching techniques, your body feels as if it’s being rhythmically kneaded, so you can float out of the spa as lightly as a feather. There are some fine royal treatments worth checking out too.
