In 2021, it’s probably safe to assume that most people will be opting for a staycation. With travel restrictions beginning to lift, many companies in the UK travel sector are beginning to reap the rewards, and this includes Away Resorts who’ve already experienced a record number of reservations.
The good news for many companies who ply their trade in the UK hospitality sector is the Great British Holiday is officially back and with a bang! With travel restrictions beginning to lift, company’s such as Away Resorts are experiencing record numbers of bookings and school holidays and October half-term looks set to follow the same trend.
And after a year of restrictions, it seems like we’re treating ourselves, with luxury accommodation types selling out ahead of others.
According to Away Resorts, which run eight exclusive holiday parks across the UK, bookings for August 2021 are already up 81% on last year.
Their stunning Sandy Balls holiday park, offering top-class facilities, a range of socially distanced outdoor activities and amazing accommodation in the heart of the leafy New Forest in Hampshire, is proving the most popular, with bookings there soaring to 90% higher than they were in 2020, and August occupancy already at 72%.
Away Resorts’ Whitecliff Bay, on the beautiful Isle of Wight, is also seeing record demand – with reservations up 46% compared to the previous year.
As well as the long summer holiday, October looks like it will be a hectic month for staycation bookings and UK travel in general. In support of this, Away Resorts have already seen a 38% year on year rise in bookings during the autumn months.
Speaking about the findings, Away Resorts’ CEO, Carl Castledine, says: “It’s been a long and difficult winter for everyone and know that lockdown is beginning to ease we’re all starting to finally look forward to summer.
“We’ve seen a massive increase in bookings – from families and friends keen to enjoy a trip away not too far from home, somewhere that feels relaxed, safe and accessible.
“Our eight parks are based in some of the UK’s most breath-taking locations, surrounded by open countryside, fantastic coastlines – both providing a great base for socially distanced fun and relaxation.”
“It’s interesting to see that we’re opting for more luxurious accommodation options than usual too. After months of making do, it feels like we all need a treat – and why not?
“We’re looking forward to welcoming all our visitors for their 2021 staycation – it’s going to be good!”
