Steven Grotell continues to push the boundaries between statement jewelry and the time piece in his latest collection of-one-of-a- kind ring watches.
Each piece in the Steven Grotell ring watch collection centres on a majestically faceted centre stone produced in a variety of precious and semi- precious materials that invite the wearer to enter into a world of colour and reflection. While time remains the central theme each ring has been designed less as a statement of Grotell’s personal design aesthetic than as a platform for presenting the unique and diverse personalities of the women who wear them. In one moment, refined and elegant in another playful and edgy.
Each of these unique ring watches manufactured in Geneva, Switzerland is produced in either 18K white gold or in a specially developed formula of 18K yellow gold and are configured with the smallest and most accurate Swiss quartz movements. Dials of naturally coloured mother of pearl or thinly sliced hard stones such as turquoise, onyx and corral are juxtaposed with aquamarines, sapphires, citrines, tourmalines and diamonds. From the refined quality of the hand setting to the finesse of the lapidary details each piece will remain for time and for time again.
Steven Grotell’s collection of one-of-a-kind ring watches is available exclusively at Fiona Druckenmiller’s eponymous FD Gallery located at 21 East 65 Street in Manhattan and by appointment worldwide.
“The time will come, when with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror and each will smile at the other’s welcome” – (Derek Walcott)
About Steven Grotell
For more than 20 years, Steven Grotell has designed timepieces and statement jewellry on behalf of many of the world’s most renowned luxury brands, global retailers and discriminating private clients. His creations, including some of the industry’s highest complications and gem set masterpieces are both iconic and coveted.
After years of designing for others, this past November Steven Grotell launched his much anticipated debut collection of one-of-a-kind high jewelry timepieces for women. Each cocktail watch is designed to challenge the very notion of uniqueness and luxury without limitation or inhibition. Every design rests upon a foundation of extraordinary rarity, high intrinsic value and artisanal craftsmanship. In keeping with a strong “anti-brand” sentiment one will not find his name on the face or body of these watches. Instead, the collection is identified via three discreetly placed graphical hallmark stamps that address the core values of the brand such as art and technology, craftsmanship and nature’s beauty. Each timepiece is individually hand crafted in Geneva in collaboration with the industries most talented and noted artisans and will only be produced as one-of-a-kind creations.
“My greatest joy as a designer comes from seeing a woman wearing one of my designs that was picked by her or for her over hundreds of other possibilities and watching her wear the piece with grace and confidence.”
Steven’s evolution as a designer is rooted in the study of architecture and design theory. Grotell holds degrees in both architecture and industrial design from Pratt Institute in New York and later studied jewellry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. By applying the insight Grotell honed as an architect to interpret and translate a client’s vision into three- dimensional form, Grotell quickly emerged as the preferred design studio among the most discerning global timepiece and fine jewellry brands.
