Tai Ping, creator of expertly crafted artisanal and handmade luxury rugs, has opened its new flagship showroom in London. Located on Fulham Road, at the heart of Brompton Design District, the showroom sits within a Victorian-era building and marks an exciting new chapter for Tai Ping in Europe.
Founded in 1956, Tai Ping has been synonymous with unparalleled craftsmanship and timeless elegance for 68 years. Almost 40 years since Tai Ping opened its first London showroom on Savile Row, this new showroom is a testament to the brand’s commitment to providing a refined space for private clients, interior designers, architects and discerning homeowners to immerse themselves in the world of House of Tai Ping brands, including Tai Ping and Edward Fields.
The 946 square foot ground floor is dedicated to showcasing Tai Ping’s couture collections as well as its new prêt-à-porter series, Studio by Tai Ping and highlights the exquisite craftsmanship that defines the brand. The lower ground floor, equally expansive in size, invites customers to explore its Edward Fields range as well as its hand-knotted collections.
With a new stock programme, customers will have the opportunity to view in-stock hand-tuft and hand-knot rugs, try them at home, and purchase them without the lead time typically associated with handmade rug production. The new showroom is further complemented by an e-shop, allowing consumers to seamlessly shop Tai Ping’s local stock availability online from anywhere in the world.
The showroom will also encourage clients to embrace couture rug design, with a wealth of samples and pom boxes on hand to facilitate the creation of bespoke designs tailored to individual preferences. A curated selection of rugs will also be available from stock for those with a leaner timeframe.
The solid walnut flooring has been furnished by Schotten & Hansen, global experts in creating the highest quality, regenerable wooden flooring and surfaces. Clients will be able to view a selection of Schotten & Hansen samples in the Tai Ping showroom, giving them a unique opportunity to coordinate high-quality architectural flooring and handmade couture rugs at the same time.
Tai Ping’s commitment to artistic collaborations is exemplified by the inclusion of their latest collection with Callidus Guild, which will be on display from the moment the doors open. Its first-ever hand-knotted collaboration, the Callidus Guild Collection, was inspired by the vast handmade work of the eponymous Brooklyn-based atelier and its visionary Yolande Milan Batteau.
This showroom is a true reflection of Tai Ping’s heritage, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. It invites guests to explore and experience the legacy of Tai Ping in an environment that celebrates the brand’s rich history while embracing modern elegance.
Natasha Laing Bonwick, UK Country Manager, Tai Ping, says, “The new London showroom reflects our commitment to blending tradition with modern design, showcasing Tai Ping’s rich heritage and timeless elegance. As we begin this new chapter in the Brompton Design District, we invite consumers and design professionals in search of expertly crafted handmade rugs to discover all that Tai Ping has to offer.”
