The SpidoSpeed Black Orange chronograph wrist watch from Linde Werdelin
Linde Werdelin watches and instruments have announced the addition of a new version to its chronograph model, the SpidoSpeed Black Orange. The new version features a vibrant colour contrast on the dial and case while keeping the 3-dimensional case construction, dial and custom-made movement as the original model. Since 2002, Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin, co-founders of Linde Werdelin watches have been bringing together the best of Swiss watch craftsmanship with innovative Danish design and avant-garde technology. The success of their range of 3-dimensional design and performance heavy wrist watches has resulted in the creation of the SpidoSpeed range.
The uniqueness of the SpidoSpeed Black Orange watch to the SpidoSpeed range lies in the combination of materials of the three part skeletonised case that add a colour contrast to it as well as a touch of orange on the dial and strap.
Morten Linde, co-founder of Linde Werdelin watches says “The Spido-case and even more so the SpidoSpeed model is a great watch to ‘experiment’ on in terms of materials and colours. Colour creates extra depth while the combination of material is made possible due to the three part case. The possibilities therefore are endless!”
The SpidoSpeed Black Orange watch Case and Dial
The core of the SpidoSpeed Black Orange, centre part of the case, the casket, including the crown and push-buttons of the chronograph as well as the case-back have been steel DLC coated. The outer case part of the SpidoSpeed has been left in steel and has been satin hand finished like the DLC coated bezel to create more depth and give a smooth visual effect next to the DLC coating.
The two-part dial has changed from the original steel version with the three sub-dials being emphasised with orange. The base dial has undergone a special treatment to artfully keep the orange part in the centre of each one. “Orange is a colour we very often see in the racing car industry” notes Morten.
The textured calf strap has been stitched with an orange thread to be in harmony with the rest of the watch while through the sapphire crystal on the case back one can distinguish the Linde Werdelin engraving on the rotor in orange.
“The SpidoSpeed Black Orange is our fourth addition to the model launched earlier this year at BaselWorld and the first to ‘break away’ from being monochromatic. The different materials and colours not only accentuate and bring out its complex case design but also create a unique timepiece” says Jorn Werdelin.
