Inaugurated to mark the legendary clubs 100th Birthday this year, Tavern at 15 is the newly refurbished restaurant and bar situated in the basement of the prestigious London Capital Club on Abchurch Lane, EC4. Exemplifying class with a clever merge of old and new, Tavern at 15 is devoted to excellent cuisine combined with an enviable selection of fine wines from around the world and astonishing cocktails composed by the venues experienced mixologists.
Giving Londoners a true taste of an exemplary private members club, without the annual club fees, Tavern at 15 offers a relaxed, city-like atmosphere where guests can dine and graze on daily menus, or unwind at the bar after a long day. Not simply another restaurant, Tavern at 15 takes advantage of its sibling’s members club facilities by offering weekly and monthly events, networking evenings and exclusive previews.
The menu, led by Head Chef Jean-Didier Gouges, famous for his inventive cuisine at the Royal Albert Hall, offers British faire with global influences to reflect the high-standing private Club’s tradition. Subtle and flavourful signature dishes include the Stonebass Carpaccio, British Lamb Rump, Scottish Lobster Burger, Smoked Duck Salad and 28-Day Aged Sirloin. The breakfast menu presents morning classics such as Egg Royale and English Muffins, along with Waffles (with a selection of toppings) and the hearty Flageolet Beans, Tomato, Ham Hock, Poached Eggs & Black Pudding Powder.
Jean-Didier is Mauritian-born and has been classically trained in French cooking techniques. He offers a modern twist to food, often defying convention. He has been a chef for over a decade and his experience spans his native island of Mauritius, which included the honour of regularly cooking for the Country’s President and other government Ministers, France, and more recently Park Lane, London.
Fostered by Simon Russell, who took over as the General Manager of the London Capital Club two years ago, Tavern at 15 has been put on a long-term footing. “We boast a proud reputation of excellence and quality within the City, whilst adapting to the modern demands of business in London. We are proud to now open this offering up for the public to enjoy a taste of the hospitability we are renowned for”, he explains.
