Leanne Kelsall embarked on a mission, to discover the best places to eat around Regent Street, for this review she experiences Thomas’s Café at the Burberry Regent Street Store
Thomas’s, named after the founder of Burberry, is an all-day Art Deco café located within Regent Street’s flagship Burberry store. This charming breakfast and brunch spot focuses on fine ingredients sourced from family-run farms and artisans.
It’s an elegant affair, with tall ceilings, marble floors, and large, decorative windows. And as the graceful waiting staff showed us to our table by the roaring fire, we quickly settled into the relaxing surroundings. It was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of London’s Regent Street.
The Thomas’s Café menu works on quality, not quantity, with a handful of options done very well. There’s also a separate booklet which details the origins of nearly every ingredient on the menu — from the Hansen & Lydersen smoked salmon to the Monmouth coffee beans.
To start, we ordered the Scotch Buttermilk Pancakes with real honeycomb and a rhubarb compote. They were delightfully light and fluffy, and the sourness of the rhubarb compote really cut through the sweetness on the plate. The Thomas’s Breakfast came next, including silky smooth and beautifully buttery Barradale scrambled eggs, with high quality, meaty sausages, and yummy farmyard bacon.
With the breakfast ticking all the boxes, Thomas’s Café is a great start to a day of shopping but also perfect as a pit-stop for a pot of loose-leaf tea and home-baked cake.
