Timmy Green, a brand new all-day Australian restaurant and bar from the founders of popular brunch haunt Daisy Green, has today opened its doors in Nova, Victoria
Creative small plates (designed to share) and big prime steaks (cooked to order on the Josper charcoal grill) lead the dinner menu and change the gear nicely from buzzing all day brunch spot to sophisticated and fun evening venue.
In addition to the steaks, which are 100% grass fed beef reared slowly on UK farms in the South of England and aged 28-75 days, look out for:
- The ‘Daisy garden’ with house made dips, black bread soil and fresh crudités;
- The ‘Three Beets’ of Josper-roasted, cold pickled and candied beetroot, with goat’s curd and candied seeds;
- The ‘Giant chicken parmigiana’ to share (with twice cooked duck fat fries);
- The vegan ‘Aubergiana’;
- The signature ‘Timmy burger’ served on black brioche bun with chilli pineapple salsa; and
- Liz’s famous ‘Mars Bar cheesecake’.
The 120-cover venue features a dedicated bar area with live music (via a baby grand piano and dedicated DJ booth), an upbeat restaurant (set over two floors), extensive outdoor lounging and an alfresco coffee bar. Original artworks and sculptures feature prominently with huge, 6 metre high, private commissions by British artists Louise Dear, Shuby and Nancy Wood, as well as a giant egg by famous pop artist Sir Peter Blake. In addition, a live Instagram printer allows guests to instantly print and share their memories.
Organic and natural wines feature prominently on the Australian influenced wine menu and cocktails are fresh and summery (think Veuve Clicquot champagne cooler and raspberry & lime sour). Nine brass craft beer taps provide a great changing selection of craft beers from local London breweries and are best enjoyed as part of the ‘London craft beer & charcuterie flight’ (four ½ pints + four charcuterie pairings from Cannon & Cannon of Borough Market).
The all-day brunch menu features some of the favourites from sibling Daisy Green including the ‘Fancy bacon roll’ (paratha roti, back bacon, crispy onion crusted poached eggs, the Ribman’s Holy F*ck hollandaise) and the ‘Award winning banana bread sandwich’ with mascarpone, fresh berries, flaked almonds and honey. In addition, ‘Steak & eggs’ (crispy rice, rump steak, fried eggs, mushrooms, chimichurri), ‘Hot and healthy breakfast greens’ and ‘Blueberry buttermilk pancakes’ joins the menu.
The famous Beany Green Espresso blend is complimented with changing single origins, hand roasted by fellow Aussies, The Roasting Party.
‘Timmy’ is named after founder Prue’s late brother, a true Aussie cowboy who lived and worked on the stations in the Northern Territory and loved a well-cooked steak.
The venue is now open 7 days from 7 am until late (from 8 am on weekends).
Timmy Green comes as the first restaurant/bar to open in the high-end food-centric ‘Nova’ Development in Victoria (www.novasw1.com/novafood). In the coming months, Timmy will be joined by the likes of Jason Atherton, Will Ricker, D&D, ETM and Sticks ‘n Sushi.
