Tiptoe Retreat to Launch 'Knead to Unwind' Bread Therapy in January 2025

Tiptoe Retreat – two stylishly designed, sustainable woodland ‘tree cabins’ with a sauna, set along the River Till and opening in Northumberland in January, has revealed details of its new Bread Therapy workshops, ‘Knead to Unwind’, which will be led by renowned author and bread maker, Pauline Beaumont.

Breadmaking is much more than creating a delicious food product with a near-mythical aroma capable of stopping people in their tracks. It is also known to be hugely beneficial for one’s mental health, banishing stresses and problems and replacing them with joy, contentment and a sense of achievement.

Tiptoe Retreat’s ‘Knead to Unwind’ workshops are a unique opportunity for people to discover the transformative power of bread making, and they will be doing it in a quite beautiful location.

Pauline Beaumont, who is celebrated for her book Bread Therapy: The Mindful Art of Baking Bread, brings her expertise and passion for the therapeutic aspects of baking to these workshops.

Her book has inspired readers worldwide. It offers a blend of practical recipes and reflective insights into how baking can nurture both the mind and body.

“Breadmaking is more than a skill; it’s a journey of personal transformation,” Pauline explains. “Through the meditative processes of kneading and baking, we connect with ourselves and the world around us. It’s a simple, grounding practice with profound benefits.”

The workshops, hosted in the Studio at Tiptoe Retreat, feature a bread oven and all the equipment needed to craft artisanal loaves.

Guests can choose between half-day or full-day personalised sessions, crafting their preferred bread, such as soda, brown, gluten-free, and more, and indulging in their creations.

These experiences offer more than just delicious results; guests leave with a sense of calm, mindfulness, and accomplishment.
