First Overseas Store for Japan’s TruffleBAKERY to Open at Causeway Bay

TruffleBAKERY Launches Its First Overseas Store at Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

The popular Japanese food chain TruffleBAKERY will make its official debut in Hong Kong, with its first overseas store having its soft opening on the 15th of December in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

TruffleBAKERY’s 3,000-square-foot and two-storey flagship will offer a line-up of baked goods, including the beloved white truffle salt bread alongside other signature items, handcrafted with authentic recipes and ingredients from Japan.

The products will be overseen by a dedicated Japanese team and baker chefs who regularly visit the local team, ensuring that the tastes and quality are flawlessly preserved.

A display cabinet full of freshly baked goods

Founded in 2017, TruffleBAKERY is a highly popular bakery in Japan. It has 17 locations nationwide, including the flagship and TRUFFLEmini stores in Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido, and Nagoya.

TruffleBAKERY’s philosophy is founded on going “One Step Beyond,” which drives the brand to break boundaries and elevate everyday baked goods to new heights by using high-quality ingredients and infusing European flavours into its products.

Its signature creation, the “White Truffle Salt Bread,” exemplifies this philosophy. This delicacy is made with specially selected Canadian flour and 100% fresh butter, featuring homemade truffle butter, white truffle oil from Alba Town in Italy, and premium French truffle salt.

The affordable and delectable treat soon became a favourite among bread enthusiasts, selling 20,000 pieces every weekend. Celebrity Takuya Kimura has publicly endorsed this treat as his go-to comfort food, while Kazunari Ninomiya has shared moments of gifting the bread to his juniors on his YouTube channel.

The design of the Causeway Bay flagship store highlights a timeless European red brick house style. The upper floor houses a fully equipped bakery kitchen where fresh-from-the-oven breads are made daily, while the lower level is the bakery store. The evocative aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air.

To ensure the brand’s essence is preserved, the head baker from Japan, Naoko Komata, will supervise the local baker’s team during the opening. With years of experience working alongside renowned Japanese artisanal baker Takaki Ogura and having been part of the opening team of TruffleBAKERY, she excels in blending traditional baking techniques with high-quality ingredients, creating products that enthuse connoisseurs.

In addition, experienced bakers from stores in Japan will team up with the local chefs to make bread and test recipes. Their meticulous attention to every detail, from ingredient sourcing and dough fermentation to precise control of baking temperature and timing, embodies the Japanese spirit of craftsmanship.

Two HK-Exclusive Flavours
In addition to the signature white truffle salt bread, TruffleBAKERY is excited to introduce the “Chocolate Truffle Salt Bread” (shown below), which was developed collaboratively by the teams in Japan and Hong Kong.

Chocolate Truffle Salt Bread

This exquisite bread is made with Japanese flour and 60% French dark chocolate, complemented by a smooth filling of 60% dark chocolate whipped cream.

The truffle sea salt on top adds a hint of savoury taste to the sweet bread. Another exclusive flavour for Hong Kong is the “Osmanthus Oolong and Fig Sourdough,” made with a 10-year-old natural yeast from Japan.

After soaking fresh osmanthus flowers in oolong tea overnight and blending them with the yeast, figs, and walnuts, the dough undergoes a slow fermentation for 14 hours to enhance the flavours. Be delighted by the delicate aroma of the sourdough.

The Black Truffle Egg Sandwich

Since its inception, TruffleBAKERY has introduced over 50 baked goods. During the soft opening, the Hong Kong store will showcase approximately 20 signature breads, including the second most popular item in Japan, the “Black Truffle Egg Sandwich” (shown above), the long-awaited, refreshingly light “Donut” developed with an original recipe, and the “Cardamom” and the “Krapufen Cinnamon Bread” inspired by German Krapfen.

Two branded tumblers and a towel

There will also be a range of retail products, including the brand’s tumbler and mini towels embroidered with a salt bread.
