Vialattea, the leading Italian-French international ski region and one of Europe’s largest ski resorts, has announced the renewal of its partnership with Trenitalia – the primary train operator in Italy.

The renewal of the Vialattea and Trenitalia partnership showcases their commitment to enhancing accessibility to the region’s renowned slopes and sustainable tourism by encouraging visitors to opt for low-impact travel, which will help preserve the Alpine region’s natural beauty for future generations.

Vialattea, situated in Piedmont on the border of Italy and France, comprises eight ski resorts, including Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario, Claviere, Pragelato and Oulx in Italy and Montgenèvre in France. It offers 400km of skiable area across over 250 slopes, 80% located above 1,900m, all connected by an extensive network of 70 lifts.

The ski area is well-served by rail, with Regional, Intercity, and Le Frecce (High-Speed Rail) trains connecting it to major cities throughout Italy. The gateway to Vialattea is Oulx, a town just 6km from the ski slopes of Sauze d’Oulx, which is home to a convenient railway station on the main line between Turin and France.

As part of this renewed collaboration, the Vialattea Link service continues to provide seamless intermodal travel for visitors. It integrates train and bus connections to create a streamlined journey from Trenitalia’s Oulx station to popular resorts within the ski area. Launched in February 2024, this service has revolutionised travel to the mountains, offering skiers and snowboarders unparalleled ease of access.

Passengers travelling with Trenitalia on Le Frecce (High-Speed Rail), Intercity, and Regional trains can enjoy discounts of up to 25% on certain types of Vialattea ski passes, with the offer running until 13 April 2025. Detailed information on these offers is available on the Vialattea website.

To access the discounts, visitors simply present their train ticket, with a travel date maximum 3 days before the ski pass validity date, at an Italian ticket office in Vialattea, along with a CartaFRECCIA or X-GO card.

This renewed partnership with Trenitalia further strengthens Vialattea’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Vialattea combines convenience and eco-friendly access to the Alps with top-tier skiing experiences.

Vialattea continues to prioritise environmental conservation through sustainable practices, such as sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable resources and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 2,900 tonnes annually.

With a strong focus on green energy and sustainable solutions, Vialattea is dedicated to preserving the region’s natural beauty and ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the mountains.
