Guest Contributor Rebecca Hopkins takes a look at Unicorn Hospitality’s new luxury hotel, Villa De Pranakorn which is set within a historic part of Bangkok, close to the metropolitan centre.
Bangkok’s historic neighbourhood of Sam Yot has become home to the next venture of the luxury Thai hotel group, Unicorn Hospitality. Villa De Pranakorn, a boutique, forty-seven-room urban retreat, has opened its doors, bringing an elegant and modern sensibility to the city’s oldest quarter.
Located just a stone’s throw from the metropolitan centre, Villa De Pranakorn offers a sanctuary of sophisticated luxury, with Bangkok’s charming World Heritage sites, such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Yaowarat, on its doorstep.
The hotel boasts accommodations to suit every need and desire, from Superior Rooms, ideal for solo travellers, to Premium and Grand Deluxe Rooms, perfectly equipped for two.
There are also two luxurious suites for the most discerning guests and special occasions.
Each abode is thoughtfully furnished with contemporary, design-led pieces and images of the Old Town. They also feature deluxe beds, rain showers, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout to ensure the unrivalled comfort of visitors.
Guests looking to re-energise and replenish on-site will seek out the hotel’s fully equipped gym and spa, followed by sunset drinks by the Pool Bar or Lobby Bar, and lunch or dinner at Samranraj, the hotel’s signature eatery that offers delectable Thai flavours and pan-Asian dishes.
Visitors can discover exceptional local heritage, culture, and cuisine nearby, including Thailand’s famed street-food stalls, high-end bars and cafés, and traditional shophouse restaurants, such as the revered Michelin-starred noodle joint Jay Fai.
For those looking to venture further afield, the well-connected location of Villa De Pranakorn, with the new Sam Yot MRT subway station located just minutes away, puts guests within easy reach of Bangkok’s main railway station, Hua Lamphong, and Chatuchak Park, one of Asia’s largest shopping markets.
Unicorn Hospitality’s forward-thinking ethos and commitment to sustainable living are discernible throughout Villa de Pranakorn, including in its partnership with the local eco-friendly company, Panpuri. This business provides guests with amenities from locally sourced, sustainable materials, such as bamboo and stone paper.
The property has also partnered with water filtration company Nordaq to produce its own drinking water on-site. Hotel residents are provided with two complimentary glass water bottles (still and sparkling) and are invited to refill these for free throughout their stay.
Erik Lannge, Villa De Pranakorn’s General Manager, said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Villa De Pranakorn. Our beautiful new boutique retreat is perfectly positioned in the historic heart of Bangkok, just a short distance from many of the city’s most iconic attractions. And yet, this unique location also allows visitors to step off the beaten track and unearth some of the capital’s most authentic and intriguing local gems.”
Villa De Pranakorn’s opening marks the launch of a new chapter of unprecedented growth for Unicorn Hospitality, with additional hotel and resort openings planned for the coming months and a plan to triple its worldwide portfolio within the next twelve months.
