In Auckland, Hotel DeBrett’s art deco inspired bathrooms combine modern luxury with 1920s glamour. This 17-room hotel, located in the city’s Central Business District, offers a quietly sophisticated retreat. Each of the 17 guestrooms is individually characterised such that no two rooms are exactly alike. Functionality, innovation and timelessness are the three philosophies that inform the hotel’s design ethic.
William Sawaya of Sawaya & Moroni have spearheaded the design team and given each guestroom at Klapsons an individualized design identity so that no two are alike. The Executive Rooms feature quirky shower designs, including a transparent snail-shaped walk-in shower in the middle of the room and an open shower flanked by two floor-to-ceiling mirrors with mood lighting and a radio.
The Cosmo Room also has a wooden-framed shower in a private patio area, so guests can choose to bathe indoors or outdoors. All bathrooms come with deluxe Molton Brown toiletries to complete the luxury bathing experience.

The owner, Greek Cypriot art collector Dakis Joannou, has created a hotel that affects all the senses through its use of objects, structures, and materials from the former Olympic Palace Hotel. With strong interior design concepts inspired by Greek mythology its 79 rooms and suites offer luxurious bath amenities and innovative room layouts. For instance, in some the sink is located outside the shower room, and unusual materials are used throughout, including sinks made from golden polyester and solid brass and a floor made from solid bamboo. All bathrooms are also stocked with Kiehl’s or Clarins toiletries.
