Designed by the Arnau Reyna studio, the Owwi collection is defined by its sinuous curves and enveloping backrests. The Actiu sofas can be summed up in three words: friendly, dynamic, and sophisticated. The Red Dot jury has recognised the company’s design and attention to detail with an award in its Product Design category.

The Owwi family of sofas feature a sophisticated, dynamic and enveloping design, with comfortable backrests with sinuous shapes achieved through elaborate upholstery work.

The Owwi collection forms part of Actiu’s Soft Seating catalogue of Actiu. The company is known for its high-quality furniture for corporate and contract spaces, and the Owwi range was its first collaboration with the Valencian studio Arnau Reyna.

Arnau Reyna is a design studio led by Ramón Arnau and Mariola Reyna, who specialises in designing products that connect with the user and the spaces they inhabit. The studio is known for its ability to create design timeless pieces that are not influenced by passing trends. Its team believes in design as a strategy, an intangible tool that is a fundamental pillar for companies as an engine of productivity and growth.

On the Red Dot accolade, Soledat Berbegal, the director of Brand Reputation, said, “This award is a recognition of the philosophy of co-creation between designer and manufacturer that we have been promoting for over 50 years to promote the design, innovation and creativity of each of our pieces.

“Owwi is a tremendously versatile and very comfortable piece, capable of finding its place in all kinds of spaces to create more human environments, which transmit calm and relaxation.”

The collaboration between Actiu and Arnau Reyna produced a range of armchairs and sofas with very rounded shapes and enveloping backrests that adapt to people’s bodies, ensuring the maximum possible ergonomics.

According to Ramón Arnau, designer of Arnau Reyna, the key feature of the collection is the innovative way in which the upholstery has been worked with. It tackles the concept of the crease in a way that is unprecedented for the Actiu catalogue and harmonises the union between the backrest and the seat based on this premise.

The backrest frame is made from pine wood structures, while the steel structure is available in black and white and is joined by a wide range of interior and exterior upholsteries. The ISO 14006 Eco-design label has accredited OWWI’s manufacturing process.
