Sabi Phagura takes a look at how Angela Langford applied her culinary skills to skincare.
The ongoing coronavirus has impacted many parts of our lives. Almost everything changed overnight in the middle of March last year with people losing their jobs, others forced to work from home, and we were virtually all cut off from friends and family.
Wearing a face covering may be widespread now, but it was a slow burn as the authorities battled among themselves on their apparent safety. Like them or not, they are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Although the wearing of face masks is deemed to keep you safe against the virus, they could cause some uncomfortable side effects when it comes to your skin.
We’ve already seen news stories and social media feeds full of images of health care staff dealing with skin issues, including flare-ups, rashes, breakouts and skin irritation- the result of wearing gloves and surgical masks. While the average person won’t suffer from skin problems to that extent, it’s never been as important to look after your skin.
We all know natural and organic skincare is better than any chemicals applied to your face and our research into good skincare solutions led us to Angela Langford Skincare. If you’re a fan of MasterChef, the name may mean something to you. Angela was a finalist on the hit cooking program in 2013.
Since then, her love of cooking continues not only in her food festival appearances, or her pop-up restaurant in Pembrokeshire, or her TV appearances on the BBC, but also in her skincare range.
At first, the connection between food and skincare may be a farfetched one. But upon closer inspection, it’s not at all an alien concept. When Angela started to toy around with creating skincare products whilst living in Spain, she realised that creating skincare products is not too dissimilar to creating recipes.
After all, making skincare products includes using the best ingredients you can find, which are heated or emulsified or folded into each other (albeit a bit more scientific than that), to end up with a result that is good for you.
With this ethos, Angela embarked on a journey that would see her being taught skincare production by the best in the business, travelling back and forth to the UK to complete her studies.
What was originally just a hobby to create creams and oils to herself and her immediate family, quickly escalated to being offered to friends and friends of friends – to a point that the Angela Langford brand was born.
As word got out, more and more people plugged into Angela’s ethos and, five years on from launching, Angela now helps hundreds of women with their skincare choices, many of which are looking for a natural alternative to the mega brands that they may have used in the past.
Today, British brand Angela Langford, creates organic, vegan, cruelty-free, mood-boosting skincare products by hand in Pembrokeshire. The natural skincare range, which includes cleansers, exfoliators, moisturisers, face masks and oils, harnesses the finest ingredients from natures larder to feed your skin – with no chemical nasties.
Suitable for even the most temperamental of complexions, Angela Langford Skincare offers a tailor-made solution to each unique skincare concern.
