The LAPADA Fair are to host the “Action for Rehabilitation from Neurological Injury” (ARNI) fundraising party on Wednesday, 14th September 2016
The ARNI Party at LAPADA will be complemented by a charity auction of some superb and unusual prizes. Highlights include a rare silver ingot (968 troy ounces of .999% purity) salvaged from the SS Gairsoppa, which was sunk by a German submarine in 1941; a week for 10 people in a fully-serviced villa on Mustique; luxury hospitality in a box for 8 at Old Trafford. From mid-August, the public will be able to bid on these and many more prizes online at arnipartylapada.co.uk.
ARNI offers stroke survivors personalised training with the aim that they become as self-sufficient as possible, as quickly as possible. The charity also provides stroke survivors, and their families, with the necessary knowledge and understanding about self-rehabilitation, so they may go it alone.
The ideal target for ARNI is to have one trainer within 5 miles of anyone needing care. It also aims to create more group classes around the country and an online tele-rehabilitation service. The funds raised from the LAPADA Charity Party 2016 will go towards fulfilling these targets and transforming the lives of people affected by strokes.
ARNI is delighted to have the support of its Chairman, Lord Lingfield, and the high-profile and dedicated committee including Andrew Marr, journalist and television presenter, who comments: “I’m delighted to be backing ARNI – real help, in real time, for ordinary people to whom something extraordinary and horrible has happened.”
In the UK about 190,000 people have a stroke each year, leaving many in need of dedicated rehabilitation support.
ARNI was founded 15 years ago by a stroke survivor, Dr Tom Balchin. It provides an essential community-integration pathway and support network for people after hospital discharge by matching them with its specialist therapists and instructors who help over the long-term. All ARNI instructors are fully qualified including the specialist ARNI “Functional Rehabilitation and Exercise Training” (FRETS) after stroke, which is accredited by Middlesex University. At the moment there are 93 therapists and groups working in 23 regions of the UK.
Mieka Sywak, LAPADA Fair Director, comments: “ARNI provides a vital service to people affected by strokes. LAPADA is thrilled to be able to support the Charity’s promotional and fundraising initiatives so that more people may benefit from its life-changing work.”
The LAPADA Fair returns for its eighth year to the suitably breathtaking surrounds of Berkeley Square, Mayfair. Sponsored by Delancey, the LAPADA Fair offers an unmissable opportunity to source and buy some of the world’s most coveted works of art, antiques, design and decorative arts.
For one night each year the purpose built exhibition space transforms, playing host to the high profile LAPADA Charity Party.
