Bar Boulud, the lively French-inspired bistro and wine bar at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, welcomes this 2012 Autumn season with a schedule of more of the happenings, which have made it one of London’s most popular and dynamic dining spots.
See below for autumnal events showcasing Bar Boulud’s outstanding food, drink and service at our Chef’s Supper Club Dinners, our Sommelier’s High Table Wine Tastings, a calendar of Weekly Roasts, our Fashion Week Collection and the launch of our Bridge Society lunches.
Bar Boulud hosts a calendar of relaxed Friday Wine Evenings at the restaurant’s High Table. Acclaimed Head Sommelier David Vareille shares his secrets during these informal master classes offering wine enthusiasts the chance to begin the weekend with a selection of wines served with a tasting of signature housemade charcuterie and cellar-aged seasonal cheeses in the buzz of Bar Boulud. Taking place between 5.30 and 7pm, the early evening tastings are priced at £40 per person and are inspired by the following themes:
14 September: The Other Side of Chablis
A tasting of some of the best appellations from one of the most famous wine villages in the world, including local vineyards Saint-Bris, Coulange, Irancy, Epineuil and Cotes D’Auxerre.
19 October: France vs California
Reproducing the infamous Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, this blind tasting pits new world wines from California against France’s Bordeaux and Burgundy classics.
16 November: “Dans Le Noir” blind tasting
Guests will be blindfolded to use just their sense of taste and smell to explore how the sense of sight affects the taste palate for both food and wine.
14 December: Festive
For some festive fun, Vareille subverts normal perceptions and instead serves sweet wine with a starter, pairs fish with red wines and meat with white wines, and Champagne and cheese to finish.
Supper Clubs with Executive Chef Dean Yasharian
13 October: Wine Harvest
Prepared with regional French produce, the menu is inspired by the traditional festivities surrounding the annual autumn grape harvest in distinguished French wine regions and celebrates the hard work in the vineyard and the gathering of families and friends.
10 November: California
Turning the spotlight on America’s West-Coast, the Supper Club highlights Californian cuisine and wines.
8 December: French Christmas Market
A menu of seasonal produce and jovial wine inspired by traditional French Christmas markets.
Why Wait ’til Sunday for a Roast?
Already renowned for his whole roasted, salt-marsh lamb and suckling pig, Executive Chef Dean Yasharian celebrates the traditional British favourite and broadens his menu with corn-fed chicken and Aberdeen Angus Beef Tenderloin, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy his three-course roast dinners every day of the week in one of Bar Boulud’s Private Dining Rooms. Ideal for family and friends wanting to share a special occasion and enjoy the culinary delights of Bar Boulud within a more intimate and private setting, the two interconnecting Private Dining Rooms comfortably seat up to 20 diners. A weekly roast calendar will also be available in the restaurant’s main dining room. From £50 per guest for a three-course set roast menu in one of the Private Dining Rooms, minimum number of guests apply.
