The Belfry Hotel & Resort, one of the worlds most iconic golf clubs, has reopened its Brabazon and PGA National courses.

There are few more popular pastimes in the country than golf, and one of the greatest places to play the game is the Belfry Hotel & Resort.

On Monday 1st June 2020, the resort opened its award-winning Brabazon and PGA National courses which are widely recognised as world-class.

The Belfry is one of the spiritual homes of British golf and has a unique claim to fame. It is the only course in the world to have played host to the Ryder Cup four times and has produced some of the most exciting and dramatic moments in the history of the sport.

In a world where social distancing is still a major consideration, golf is one of those sports which is ideally set up to maintain this.

The resort has implemented a number of new measures to ensure guests and players safety, James Macbeth Stewart, Resort Director, explains more: “We’ve received a great response from golfers and our members who can’t wait to get back on the course, and we are very thankful for their support. It feels fantastic to be able to welcome them back.

The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team are our top priority, and we’ve taken the time to ensure we have enhanced safety measures in place. The remainder of the resort will be closed until further notice to comply with Government guidance and social distancing measures. When we do reopen the whole resort, we will donate our green fee income from our opening day to a number of charities locally and across the UK.”

The Belfry has also introduced some changes to the PGA National Course. Drawing inspiration from the Ryder Cup Course and the Brabazon course, the 18th hole is now a risk and reward par 4.

For those unfamiliar with what a risk and reward hole is, allow us to explain. Essentially, the hole provides more than one way to tackle it. You can take a risky option which if taken and achieved provides a reward or a more straightforward option, probably taking a difficult hazard out of the equation.

In addition to the changes made on the 18th, the new 1st tee layout has been greatly improved with a new tee/green complex befitting the Championship course.

Belfry Ambassador Stuart Broad said of the course reopening: “I am delighted to hear that The Belfry’s golf courses are reopening and I wish the best of luck to the team who do an incredible job of looking after the 500-acre estate. Golf at The Belfry is first class, and I am really looking forward to playing on 1st June when they open.”

It is mandatory to book tee-times, and they must be made at least one week in advance. The tee times are available from 8 am Monday through to Friday, and 7.30 am on the weekend. The price for the PGA National is from £30pp and for the Brabazon, it’s £80pp.
