The BMW Art Car Collection has brought an injection of colour to the austerity of a Shoreditch multi-storey car park over the last 10 days, adding even more energy to an already vibrant artistic scene in London’s East End.
So far 7000 visitors have headed to the car park to take in the collection since it opened on 21 July.
Presented by the ICA in partnership with BMW, London 2012 Festival and the Mayor of London, Art Drive ! has been a highlight in the varied programme of free events across the city.
“Complain about the traffic chaos all that you like, but the Olympics have one huge automotive factor in their favour.” GQ
“if you’re interested in either art or cars, if the revs of an engine get your motor running; or you’re just lacking plans, head to Art Drive.” Art Wednesday
“Suspended on bare concrete like ink blots on canvas, the best of the collection invoke the furnace of creativity, energy, identity and movement.” Autocar
“This is a good opportunity for those who believe cars can’t be art to see the errors of their way! These cars are indeed art, and fine examples too.” Motorward
“Each of these masterpieces is unique in a way that sets them apart in colour, design and artistry.” Rushlane
