To mark the tercentenary of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s birth in 2016, Haddonstone has commissioned a bust based on Nathaniel Dance’s famous 1773 portrait.
A master model was sculpted before creating a rubber and fibreglass mould from which exquisite stone replicas can be created. Haddonstone will launch the stonework edition in Spring 2016.
About Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown
Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown (1716-1783) changed the face of landscape design in England and beyond, sweeping away much of what had gone before by creating an idealised countryside of lakes, trees and rolling parkland at such places as Blenheim, Croome, Harewood and Stowe.
About Haddonstone
Established in 1971, Haddonstone is the UK’s leading manufacturer of fine garden ornaments and architectural stonework in traditional, classical and contemporary styles. Haddonstone is a unique form of cast limestone with a surface texture similar to Portland stone. The material matures and weathers like natural stone to create a timeless ornament that grows ever more distinguished with age. Other Haddonstone designs range from fountains, planters and bird baths to balustrades, follies and fireplaces.
Based at East Haddon, in the rolling countryside of Northamptonshire, Haddonstone has beautiful show gardens and an interior showroom where visitors can see many of the designs in their intended setting. The gardens are open to the public Monday-Friday from 9.00am until 5.00pm (excluding public holidays and the Christmas period). Haddonstone exhibits each year at the Chelsea Flower Show.
