In 1946, Cuervo y Sobrinos manufactured their Historiador model; in 2023, they pay tribute to the original via the Historiador Cronógrafo 1946, a modern Chronograph reflecting the past.
A year after the second world war ended, the horologists at Cuervo y Sobrinos of Havana on the island of Cuba launched its Historiador.
In a time of global austerity, the timepiece stood out with its elegant and colourful design. People loved it, and it soon became highly popular. The brand, now based in Switzerland, believes a reminder of its excellence is long overdue, prompting them to create the Historiador Cronógrafo 1946
The Historiador Cronógrafo 1946 has a case made from stainless steel and is 42mm in diameter. The dial features a beautiful panda-style salmon pink dial with tobacco brown counters. Creative ‘bâton’ shaped hour, minute, central chronograph seconds and counter hands stand out from the dial.
History and Cuervo y Sobrinos have been intertwined since they launched in Havana, Cuba, in 1882. The brand has many milestones and events to celebrate along its journey. Launching the original Historiador is one of these special moments.
Under the double-curved sapphire crystal anti-reflective dome, you see the beautiful and functional Chronograph elements, with a tachymeter scale framing the display. The period-inspired sapphire crystal allows light to flood the dial, enhancing its readability.
The new timepiece comes with a brown Louisiana alligator strap with a matte finish, echoing the chronograph counters’ colour to deliver a harmonious appearance. At the heart of the Historiador Cronógrafo 1946 is the tried-and-tested CyS 8123 calibre, an automatic movement with a forty-two-hour power reserve.
Limited to one hundred pieces, the Historiador Cronógrafo 1946 showcases the future of Cuervo y Sobrinos. If you would like to learn more about Cuervo y Sobrinos and view its range of timepieces, please visit www.cuervoysobrinos.com/en/.
