Hotel Byblos, the luxury Palace hotel nestled in the heart of Saint Tropez, has revealed its collaboration with the Paris-based interior designer Laura Gonzalez, which has resulted in four newly renovated suites.

Laura Gonzalez’s extensive portfolio spans a wide spectrum of projects, ranging from luxurious residences to distinguished hospitality spaces, including the recently opened Hôtel Hana and Cartier.

For her first project in Saint-Tropez, Laura drew inspiration from the hotel’s rich history to feature a blend of timeless elegance and modern design elements, including the incorporation of mosaics and ceramics reminiscent of the hotel’s storied past with celebrated artists, such as Roger Capron.

Owner Antoine Chevanne expressed his excitement about this partnership, stating, “We are delighted to have Laura Gonzalez on board for this new project at Hotel Byblos. With our joint passion for the French Riviera and the colours of the Mediterranean, we had every reason to collaborate. Her unique design sensibility and keen understanding of the hotel’s history make her the perfect choice for this endeavour. Our close relationship with Laura Gonzalez has naturally progressed to this collaboration, and we look forward to this fresh and inspired new vision for these suites.”

Laura Gonzalez is a highly regarded interior designer known for her ability to blend classic and contemporary styles seamlessly. With a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and attention to detail, Gonzalez has carved a niche for herself in the world of luxury interiors. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for art, history, and cultural influences.

Among her notable achievements is the acclaimed Saint James Hotel and Residences, where Laura Gonzalez demonstrated her prowess in crafting visually stunning and immersive environments.

At Lapérouse, she designed a space that not only complements but enhances the extraordinary surroundings of this iconic restaurant and its rich literary, political and cultural history, showcasing her ability to create atmospheres that seamlessly blend with their unique contexts. Her natural talent for designing immersive environments that tell a story aligns perfectly with the vision for the Hotel Byblos suites.

The new suites were designed to resemble a family home with the same common thread: a bold blend of colours and influences. With this new design, Laura’s aim was to express modernity through four atmospheres reflecting the joy of living. The first features a coral palette, the second subtle yellow shades, the third a turquoise variation, and the fourth a celadon gradient.

The new rooms will include iconic pieces, vintage items, and unique creations for Byblos, such as the ceramic minibars inspired by travel trunks that were popular in the 1970s and marquetry wooden doors made by hand.

Of the new rooms, Laura Gonzalez said, “The concept aims to retain the essence of Byblos, embracing a familiar and welcoming atmosphere. The approach involved conceptualising the suites as if they were part of a family home designed to provide a warm and inviting space for its guests. This emphasis on a homely environment was intended to create a sense of comfort and ease, fostering a connection between the guests and the space they inhabit during their stay at Byblos.

Hotel Byblos’ renovation is set to redefine luxury accommodations in Saint Tropez, providing guests with an immersive experience that seamlessly blends past, present and future. Laura Gonzalez’s unique vision and strong partnership with Antoine Chevanne underscore the commitment to maintaining Hotel Byblos’s status as an iconic destination for discerning travellers.
