IWC Schaffhausen is delighted to be supporting the Drivers Lounge at CarFest South 2013, and will be the only watch brand supporting the event, taking place from 23 to 25 August 2013 at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, home of former Formula One™ world champion Jody Scheckter.
IWC’s commitment to motor racing has been apparent throughout 2013, starting with its new role as Official Engineering Partner of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team. The completely remodelled Ingenieur watch collection focuses entirely on this partnership and is inspired by motorsport. The decision to support the Drivers Lounge during CarFest South is another logical consequence in a year at full speed for IWC Schaffhausen.
Drivers in the notorious CarFest Hill Climb will enjoy access to the lounge, along with their all-important support crew. All of the selected cars, drivers and crew for each entry are provided with an exclusive purpose-built Drivers Lounge, which is designed to host the drivers’ briefings on each day of the event, as well as provide a comfortable environment and space for each driver and crew to use.
CarFest was conceived by Radio 2 DJ and presenter Chris Evans and is an event that combines classic cars, live music and food, while also raising money for BBC Children in Need. The event will have some of the best cars in the world, both classic and new, on display and racing in the sprint courses, including the exciting Hill Climb.
The IWC watch which will feature at CarFest is the Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil (Ref. 3785), IWC’s heritagefocused watch, inspired by a Mercedes Silver Arrow motor racing car from the 1930s, a period known as the glamorous age of the sport.
Simon Chambers, Brand Director IWC UK, says of the activity: “We are delighted that IWC is supporting an event which we feel reflects many of our core values. IWC Schaffhausen has a long history of supporting worthwhile causes, of which BBC Children in Need is indeed a very important one. The emphasis we’ve placed this year on motorsport is yet another reason as to why supporting CarFest made absolute sense to the brand.”
