If you love a good sun salutation when you get out of bed to stretch out the whole body you will be pleased to hear about this new yoga class alfresco.
Heading into London to a rooftop garden will make the process much more enjoyable. As from now until September yogis can head into the capital on a Thursday morning to get their weekly fix as the pop-up Fat Buddha Yoga will be running morning yoga sessions from the stunning rooftop garden at Coq d’Argent with spectacular views over the city skyline.
Founded by DJ and yoga trainer, Jessica Skye, Fat Buddha Yoga is a modern, accessible and fun take on traditional yoga. Whether you do yoga regularly or not, this class is definitely suitable for both beginners and pros alike. There are plenty of alternatives to the poses so you won’t feel pressured to execute them perfectly.
Jessica takes clients through the hour long routine from various poses and asanas with plenty of time to experiment with some of the poses. It makes for a welcoming change from just moving from pose to pose in a robotic fashion as the case can be in some yoga classes. Toppling over is even encouraged as only with practice can you learn how to do the poses correctly.
And if you think the busy streets of the city would distract your yoga practice, fear not. With Jessica’s music and the calm environment of the rooftop garden, you will be able to block out any noise. The hour long class ends in shivasanna which is a blissful way to start the day.
Those attending the class also have the option to complete their morning with breakfast at Coq d’Argent. With the great weather looking like it’s here to stay, you can enjoy food on the terrace while soaking up the morning sun. The menu boasts plenty of choices from Greek yoghurt with honey, berry compote, fruit salad or muesli Bayonne ham and tomato Benedict and Smoked salmon and spinach eggs Benedict.
There are also some fantastic vegan options such as Crushed avocado and hazelnuts on toast and Beetroot and potato rosti with honey dressing. Yoga and a good hearty breakfast all before 10 am in the city. Now that is something to shout about from the rooftops.
Classes run every Thursday from 7.30-8.30am and cost £15 per session or £56 for four classes. For more information click here.
