International Restaurant Association JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs has unveiled its newly elected Board of Directors, which includes two freshly appointed Vice Presidents, Katrin Steindl and Nicolai P. Wiedmer, who President Daniel Canzian will lead. The decision was finalised in Tuscany, Italy, at the latest International Board meeting, marking a new chapter for the association.
Daniel Canzian (lead image), from Italy, is celebrated for his innovative approach to traditional Italian cuisine and brings both experience and a visionary mindset to his role as President. Well-known for his refined interpretation of Italian classics and commitment to sustainable culinary practices, Canzian has been a prominent figure in the culinary world for over a decade.
As the owner and head chef of Milan’s critically acclaimed Daniel Canzian restaurant, his inventive dishes focus on local, seasonal ingredients. His dedication to the culinary arts and leadership in promoting responsible gastronomy fit perfectly with JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs’ core values.

Katrin Steindl, newly elected Vice President from Austria, steps into her leadership role with a rich background rooted in family tradition. She has directed Der Unterwirt, a celebrated hotel and restaurant, with her sister Sabrina, since 2019.
With a focus on innovation blended with tradition, the Steindl sisters have crafted a unique guest experience honouring their heritage while embracing fresh perspectives. Located on a family-run farm, Der Unterwirt is a cornerstone of culinary and cultural experiences, managed by a passionate team dedicated to hospitality and sustainability.
Nicolai P. Wiedmer from Germany, appointed Vice President, brings his expertise as chef and owner of Restaurant Eckert. Known for his culinary vision, Wiedmer has developed a reputation for creating dishes that feel familiar yet invite guests to explore new culinary horizons. Supported by a dedicated team of 30 professionals, he continuously pushes the boundaries of contemporary dining while maintaining a deep connection to the flavours and comforts of home.
